The Kentucky Summative Assessment Is Around The Corner
Kentucky Summative Assessment
The Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) is the annual summative assessment given in grades 3rd through 8th, 10th and 11th to Kentucky public school students. KSA provides content area assessments, such as reading, mathematics, science, social studies, and writing, at all grade levels or grade bands. The KSA window has been set and will take place May 11th-19th and the full schedule can be found here. Third, fourth, and fifth grade parents, please do your best to be on time, get plenty of rest, and not schedule appointments during the KSA window time frame. If you must schedule a doctor's appointment, please do so in the afternoon due to early testing for most students. Parents, thank you for your understanding with this issue.

Zachary Taylor Elementary STLP Projects
We would like to celebrate and congratulate the students in our Student Technology Leadership Program. This group of students has been working on projects all year to prepare for the STLP State Competition. On Wednesday, they traveled to Lexington to present their projects to the judges and did an outstanding job of representing Zachary Taylor.
There were three different projects:
ZT KidsCast: The group working on this project provided updates and interviews about what was happening around ZT. They developed a process and completed two episodes. They can be viewed here: Episode 1, Episode 2
Growing Food for Our Community: This group learned about different fruits, vegetables, and herbs they could grow. They learned about different planting and growth processes and worked on growing food for the local community.
Collecting for Our Community: The group working on this project organized a food drive to collect food for our local community. With the help of our ZT family, they were able to donate over 400 items to Eastern Area Community Ministries.
We are so proud of all they accomplished. They have already been talking about wanting to return to the state competition next year! We look forward to seeing what they come up with next!
