Mighty Eagle Marching Band State Send-off
The Avon High School Mighty Eagle Marching Band is going to States! Let's send them off in style!
The community is invited to line the high school driveway holding posters, signs and bang on pots and pans and various other noise makers tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 4 at 10:30 a.m. (buses are leaving at 10:45 a.m.). Please park by the tennis courts and walk down the driveway.
Our students and directors have been working hard all season, let's show them some love and support.
The band is competing at Medina High School Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1:45 p.m. Good luck! GO EAGLES!
Congratulations to our Mighty Eagles as they also will be competing at the Bands of America Grand National Championships in Indianapolis next weekend (Preliminary competition is Nov. 10).
District Safety Update: Parking Lot Lights
In order to improve safety in our school parking lots, we have been able to purchase additional lighting and upgrades through the K-12 Safety Grant.
The installation of new equipment and upgrades to this exterior lighting can be seen at the Early Learning Center, Avon East, Heritage, and AHS.
Please be patient with us as we know that some areas can be dark, especially with “Fall Back” occuring this weekend as Daylight Saving Time ends.
We look to have all of these projects completed by winter break.
Treasurer's Update: Five-Year Forecast
Every November schools are required to submit a Five-Year Forecast of their finances to the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). The forecast includes historical data, as well as a forecast of the upcoming five years. The forecast only includes the school’s General Fund, which is used for operating expenses. Schools are also required to submit an update to their forecast each year in May.
Avon’s November 2023 forecast is showing an increase in state funding over previous years, due to recently passed legislation referred to as the Fair School Funding Plan. There is also a projected increase in Property Tax revenue due to rising home values. Similarly, we are seeing an increase in expenditures due to inflation. Overall, the district is projecting a healthy cash balance over the next several years within the operating fund.
Current Five-Year Forecasts, and historical forecasts dating back to 2013, can be found on the ODE’s website.
If you have additional questions, please contact Treasurer Sadie Fox at foxs@avoneagles.org.

Avon wins CRS SOUPer Bowl
Thank you to everyone who generously donated to the Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services SOUPer Bowl!
The real winners are the Avon and Avon Lake families, individuals and senior citizens served by CRS. Congratulations AVON! Winner of the 13th annual SOUPer Bowl!
This year BOTH communities combined collected 7,828 lbs. of food and $18,301 in monetary donations. The food and cash combined represents approximately 99,335 lbs. of food for the CRS food pantry. AMAZING!! That will help A LOT of people.
Spreading kindness one cup at a time
The Avon Heritage Kids Who Care Club is continuing to spread kindness in the community. For its November activity, students will be spreading kindness and preparing for the winter days ahead. During the colder months, many of our local community members grab a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate at our local establishments. The students are hoping to bring smiles to our local community members by writing a kind message on the sleeve of each cup. Thank you students for making a difference!
