Volunteer with LPS Comp Sci
LPS is a Microsoft TEALs partner school; we have various computer science instructors available to assist our junior programmers throughout the year.
However, we still need mentors for students who are learning to program in Javascript during mods 2 and 3 (class times: 9 AM and 10 AM.)
We encourage our LPS parents in the computer science industry to reach out to us at volunteer@lpsfrisco.com to co-teach or tutor in the classroom during that time.
- You would be helping students work through the design process and debugging their code along with reminding them to keep a journal of their learning.
Please reach out to us at volunteer@lpsfrisco.com if you have availability Monday through Friday, from 9 am to 10 am or from 10 am to 11 am.
Even if you would only like to guest lecture once, we'd love to host you!
When you email volunteer@lpsfrisco.com, you will reach all the CTE teachers that would love your help with amazing projects and events in the classroom.
Volunteer your time and videos for Middle School Advisory lessons!
Currently, we are looking for career videos from leaders in the workforce. These videos will be shared during advisory on Thursdays (career days).
The purpose of these videos is to inspire curiosity within students to further their career exploration. This is especially helpful for middle school students.
If you are interested in sending in a video, please refer to the instructions in this document. Leaders of the Community - Video Instructions
Other opportunities you may be interested in:
- We are always looking for guest speakers! Particularly the course of our 8th-grade careers looks to offer these for the students a few times every nine weeks. If you're interested in this please reach out to volunteer@lpsfrisco.com; jbarrientez@lpsfrisco.com , or eaguilar@lpsfrisco.com
- We are holding a career fair in February for the students to get to know more about careers! This will be a win-win for the high school students that are looking for internships and potential entry-level jobs.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please reach out to me at aestrada@lpsfrisco.com. Thank you very much for your continued participation in making LPS the P.L.A.C.E. To Be.
Kind regards,
Angela Estrada

LPS Parent Pride Patrol!
Don't know what LPS Parent Pride Patrol is? It is a program for parents to be involved and servant lead. It's an easy job, you are actively present, slightly intimidating, yet friendly and you get to wear a cool vest and have a Walkie Talkie. The Pride Patrol is a welcome presence in the hallways, stairwells and lunchroom. Parents can greet students, build rapport, check for hall passes and monitor safety. The time commitment is minimal. Time slots are in 30-minute increments. Sign up for one or several!
We currently have Pride Patrol on Mondays and Fridays.
Steps to get started:
- If you haven't already done so for this year, you will need to complete the yearly background check (this information is kept confidential) before serving (you don't hear back unless there is an issue)
- Sign up for a time slot here
- Review this list of things to look for and do while on patrol
Show up for your time slot(s) at the Secondary Front Office. You will need to check in with your ID. There will be a special place to get your Pride Patrol vest and Walkie Talkie.
7th & 8th Grade News
7th Grade Parents and Students,
What a great week! Take some time to look through this week's 7th newsletter and this week's 8th grade newsletter. You will also find helpful information for each class, the teacher of the month, and what students are learning in their classes.
Please take time to refill your student's supplies throughout the year. Pencils and headphones are a necessity! Also, MySchoolBucks is updated. Please pay the required annual school supply fee as soon as possible. This fee covers bulk class supplies, field trips, field day, and a class shirt.
