Dr. Greer's Super Note
August 2023
Happy first day of school!
I am so grateful that you are here! Back-to-school is an exciting time that can bring with it lots of emotions. You may be confident, nervous, happy for the year ahead, or even sad that the summer is now behind us.
A year ago, I was experiencing my first day of school as superintendent. I was still meeting many people in schools across the district and becoming familiar with the various schedules, routines, and other details. Now, a year later, I have made new friends and have helped be part of some important projects that will make our district better.
This first day of school has me thinking back to when I was a student, and I hope you enjoy these photos of me from way back then. Maybe these photos can be a good reminder that the teachers and grownups in your lives were once students like you, finding their way on first days, making new friends, and discovering a little at a time what their future would hold.
Yesterday, I challenged all of the teachers and employees to think of at least one important thing they can do this school year to help make our district better. We are all working together to make sure Maize is the best school district for you! I invite you to also think of one goal this year that can make this the best school year yet.
I hope you have an a-MAIZE-ing first day of school!

Teens invited to apply for new Boys & Girls Club of South Central Kansas job opportunity in Maize
Maize USD 266 partners with the Boys & Girls Club of South Central Kansas for before- and after-school care and programming in our schools. The organization is piloting a new Transition Leader: Youth Worker program in Maize and invites 15- to 17-year-olds to apply. Please click here to access the Transition Leader: Youth Worker - Maize application, and please consider sharing this information with your child or any eligible potential candidate. This is a great opportunity for responsible teens who have experience working with children and are seeking a part-time job that accommodates their school hours.

Youth workers will implement, supervise, and promote activities and programs for children and youth during out-of-school hours. Training will be provided for CPR/First Aid Certification.
