SHS Weekly Update

This Friday, January 12, is scheduled to be an asynchronous learning day for all Smithfield High School students. All students will have an assignment to complete as proof of attendance for each 1st-semester class.

These assignments will consist of review materials and activities. Assignments will be made available either on Canvas or provided to students via a packet. Any student who does not have access to a computer will be provided a paper copy.

Students will be given 5 school days to turn in these asynchronous assignments.

Open practices are being held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2:45 pm - 5:15 pm. Current game list that we will be participating in are as follows: League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

Tryouts for the spring season will be January 23, 24 and 25 from 2:45 pm - 5:15 pm

Now meets every Monday *AND* Thursday after school from 3 pm to 4 pm in the library.

Students must have a ride home.

All appointment slots have been filled, but there will be additional cap and gown portrait sessions offered on February 21. A link to make an appointment will be available soon.

The 2024 Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions will be administered

starting in January to all students in grades nine, ten, eleven, and twelve and all classroom
instructors and licensed staff in your building, regardless of the grades served by the
individual. To opt out, please read through the attached letter and contact Danielle Hewitt.
