Good evening, Surfside!

We enjoyed a great week at Surfside with lots of great learning and fun activities taking place on campus. Our elementary kids are gaining leaps and bounds in their abilities to read and write, the middle school kids are making strides with their grade-level learning, and both sets of high school students are making strides towards graduation, including those who have already graduated early.

It's hard to believe, but there are only two weeks left before the 3-week break. Please take a moment and log onto Aeries to determine your student's academic status and attendance. If adjustments or catch up work is necessary it needs to be made as soon as possible to ensure credits are earned before the semester ends.

Hello Families,

Welcome to December! We hope everybody had an easy transition back into work mode after their week off.

This is a hectic time of the year for all. Please be sure that any work completed since the last work turn in date is dropped off immediately, as December 1st is a due date. We understand that it may not be a complete unit due to the break.

iReady Diagnostic Alert!

Please begin careful work on the iReady Diagnostics starting on Monday. Remember, this Diagnostic is required by the Master Agreement and is very important for progress tracking. It will also help guide teachers in completing report cards. As always, do not rush, complete the diagnostic over several days and encourage your student to do their very best.

Plan Ahead- Winter Break will be coming up 12/21/23 - 1/5/24. Monday & Tuesday 12/18/23 & 12/19/23 (No In-Person Sessions will be held). Teachers will be finalizing report cards, and assessments. Virtual Sessions will still be held on those days.

Weekly News - 12/1/23

IT IS CRUNCH TIME!!!! We are in the homestretch of 1st semester and now is the time to make sure your student finishes strong!

We have 13 days left of the semester! Finals week will be Monday 12/11 - Friday 12/15. Students will need to complete all end-of-semester exams that week (or prior to that week)!

There will be no in-person sessions on Monday 12/18, Tuesday 12/19, or Wednesday 12/20. Students will need to complete the iReady diagnostics during these days. Please ensure students take these diagnostics seriously so that the results are accurate and I get a clear picture of students’ academic progress.

The Month 4/5A Workbook is due Thursday 12/14 get them completed and submitted on time! I’m hoping the 1st Workbook for 2nd semester will be available for pickup at that time. If I do not receive the Workbook by Friday 12/15, I will not be able to include it for credit towards their semester grades, so please ensure it is dropped off on or prior to 12/15/23!

While the weather is warm, please make sure your student stays hydrated. Pack a refillable water everyday. Water refill stations are located around campus.

The Surfside Holiday Pop Up Shop will return this December for our students and families. If you have any donations please bring them by the school.
