Cell Phones
Cell phones provide an unnecessary distraction for elementary students as well as the opportunity for students to access inappropriate content via the internet during the school day and on the school bus.
Cell phones are the primary tool used in cyber bullying. Please help us keep our students safe and reduce distractions during the school day by not allowing your child to bring their phone to school.
For additional information on cyber bullying please see the following link.
https://www.stopbullying.gov/cyberbullying/what-is-it
If students are observed using a cellphone during the school day, the phone will be held in the front office until a parent/guardian can be contacted and is able to pick it up. If a parent deems it absolutely necessary to send a cell phone with their child, it is to be kept in the student backpack at all times and turned off. Out of sight, out of mind. GES is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones.
Student Water Bottles
We are right in the middle of our membership drive! This is our fall fundraiser. We are currently over 200 members! We would like to continue to collect memberships or donations through October 13th. Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Kerr are set to kiss the cow! We are hoping to reach 300 members so Mrs. Swann has to pucker up or better yet, 400 members so we can watch Deputy Drew kiss the cow! Keep those memberships or donations coming!
Another way you can help our PTA is by using Amazon Smiles. This allows you to give back to the PTA while shopping! Each purchase you make will give .5% back to the PTA! We appreciate your support!!
Growing Readers
Please join us on October 11th, to learn all about how to grow your young reader in Kindergarten to 2nd grade! This night will be full of wonderful information about our new reading series, our Fundations program and ways you can help your child at home. While you visit your child's reading classrooms, students in Kindergarten to 2nd grade can play Bingo for Books! It will be a great night! Don't miss it! Be sure to RSVP!
This is a friendly reminder that Reading/Math calendars are due on Monday, October 3. Thank you for encouraging reading and math practice at home.
The Parent Viewing Area will be blocked and marked off for parents. We invite you to enter the Parent Viewing Area to see the parade and watch your child walk with their class. The parade typically lasts forty-five minutes to an hour. The parade is set to begin at 9:30.
NOTE: Parents are welcome and encouraged to park at the VFC Community Hall across the highway for this event so we avoid creating traffic and blocking roads.
The Greensboro Connects Office & Emergency Food Pantry are now open!!
111 S. Main Street Greensboro MD 21639 (entrance on the right side of the building)
The Greensboro Connects Initiative is a program that connects multiple services with residents
of the Town of Greensboro and surrounding areas. This initiative will provide an office-style
physical space to organizations including nonprofits that provide a service to the community.
See October’s schedule below:
Parent/Teacher Conference Day!
In order to meet the needs of all of our parents, GES will offer parents a choice of three different kinds of parent/teacher conferences this year.
-In person - parents comes to the school to meet with teacher(s)
-Zoom/Google Meet - parents and teacher(s) meet virtually
-Phone Conference - teacher(s) and parents discuss student progress at a time convenient to the parent & teacher
It is our hope that these options provide our parents with the flexibility to include these important meetings into their schedule!
As always, there is no need to wait until November to discuss student progress with your child's teacher(s), please feel free to contact your child's teacher or the front office staff to schedule a meeting. 410-479-3885
