December 17: “Ring in the Season of Joy!” Our festive Intergenerational service of story and song the Sunday before Christmas, Rev. Scott W. Alexander
This Sunday, as an intergenerational community, we will celebrate the many songs and stories – moods and meanings – of this special time of year. We will sing some of the favorite carols of the season, and share some wonderful holiday stories. This serviced is designed to delight folks of all ages and backgrounds…do be with us.
Dec. 24: Christmas Eve Intergenerational Candlelight Service, Rev. Scott Alexander
5:00 PM
This December 24th, we will gather, just after dark (at 5 PM) in our sanctuary for our Intergenerational Christmas Eve Candlelight service. Together we will listen to and sing some of the favorite music and carols of the season, and share in some of the beautiful stories and meanings of this most precious of seasons. Do be with us this Christmas Eve for this very special service, and feel free to bring family or friends with you!
Dec. 31: "Y R U A UU?" ("Why Are You a UU?")
Dan Lusk will lead a totally participatory service for those who wish to take part. We will share our religious journeys to become a UU today. Were you a former Catholic, Lutheran, or some other faith? Are you a lifelong UU? Join us for some interesting revelations from our members and curious visitors. Participation may be limited depending on attendees in order to keep the service to an hour or so.
Jan. 7: All Souls’ Cafe
On the first Sunday in January, at our regular 10 am service, we will welcome in the New Year - 2024 - with our annual All Soul's Cafe' talent show. There's still room for more acts, so if you would like to sing, play an instrument, dance, read a poem, or whatever you do, please let me know by Dec. 24 by email to: lsandersen@wi.rr.com. Brittney has kindly offered to accompany anyone who would like that. Please email me at: lsandersen@wi.rr.com.
Since a cafe needs some food, please bring some cookies, coffeecake, donuts, or something else for a good brunch. We'll be serving in the West lobby.

In Memoriam
- It is with great sadness that we inform you that Al Lustig died quietly in his sleep early Tuesday morning, Dec. 12. Al and his wife, Janice Watson, have been members and friends of UCN for a long time. There will most likely be a memorial service planned for the spring.
- Our condolences to Jan Crosby, whose brother passed away recently. She expects to be living with family in the Atlanta area.

Calling all Social Justice Nominators!
Are you a UCN member who is familiar with an organization in the Greater Milwaukee Area that is involved in social justice work that benefits the community? Would you like to see them receive hundreds of dollars from our church to support their mission? Now is the time to fill out a nomination form for the UCN Fund for Social Justice. The deadline is January 15. Guidelines for making a nomination for the annual distribution can be obtained by emailing Lyn Gust at the UCN office, info@ucnorth.org, or by picking up a nomination form in the main lobby.
The UCN Fund for Social Justice was established in 2000 following the state legislature's decision to send tax-rebate checks to taxpayers, rather than using $700,000,000 for programs that could benefit those in need of the most basic resources, such as food, affordable housing, health care, and child care, for example. UCN members pooled their tax-rebate checks together in the amount of $10,000, to start up the Fund, which is managed by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. Annual disbursements of the interest are made unless there is no approved nomination in any given year.
Disbursements will be made in areas of human services and will be consistent with UCN's vision and mission, and the mission of the UUSC, as outlined in the “Structure and Responsibilities of the Social Justice Committee.”
Disbursements, generally, will be made to 501c3 charitable organizations in the Greater Milwaukee Area, although the Social Justice Committee may wish to support efforts that may not be organized as a 501c3.The Social Justice Committee may seek guidance from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation on the integrity of potential recipients.
Nominations must be received in the UCN office no later than January 15th.
Also, please consider donating to the Fund by making your check out to Unitarian Church North. Write "Fund for Social Justice" on the memo line and place it in the safe in the church office.
