BSD Math Placement Testing for 5th Grade Families
About 9 out of 10 BSD students will be enrolled in “Math 6/7” for math next year. If you would like your student evaluated to determine whether “Math 7/8" or “Alg/Geo/Stats 1” would be appropriate instead, please see the BSD Math Placement Testing site to request testing by May 5th.
All testing will take place in May at your student’s school during their school day. There will be no testing for current students after May.

March Spirit Assembly
Our next spirit assembly will be March 24th. In honor of National Reading Month, our spirit day is Celebrate Books and we're asking students to come dressed up as their favorite author or book character.
March is also Women's History Month - Women's History Month is an annual declared month that highlights the contributions of women to events in history and contemporary society. Our staff will be sharing influential women with students during our assembly.
We look forward to celebrating both of these important National observances with all our students.

Student Survey Window: April 4-June 8
Student Survey
Each year the District surveys students and staff to gather information for planning, program evaluation, and assessment of progress on the District's Strategic Plan.
Student surveys of middle and high schools included three optional questions for students to identify their gender, ethnicity / race, and sexual orientation. These questions allow for additional levels of analysis of questions on inclusion, safety and bullying.
The student survey takes about 20 minutes during the regular school day. The data gathered from the survey are anonymous; your child will not put his/her name or other identifying information on the survey. Like other surveys, results will be presented only about groups. No individual data will be reported.
Your child may skip questions or stop filling out the survey at any time. Refusing to participate or withdrawing from the survey does not affect your child's grades or class standing in any way. If you or your child does not want to participate, your child can read or do some other activity while his or her classmates complete the survey.
A copy of the survey is available from your child's school and is posted at https://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/departments/teaching-learning/accountability/research-reports

The Scholastic Book Fair is almost here!
The Book Fair will run on school days between March 15-21. Students will have an opportunity to shop the Book Fair during their lunch recess times. Families are welcome to visit the Book Fair after school from dismissal until 3:45pm each day and during the Science Fair night on March 15 between 6:30-8:15pm. If students would like to shop after school hours, each child must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
The Book Fair will be located in the former Maker Space pod on the lower level near the library. Entry will be through the exterior doors by the playground gate via the Thompson parking lot.
