Districtwide Food Drive - Coming Soon!
Because we are learning remotely this year, schools won't have the same ability to collect these items. This could drastically impact the Salvation Army's food pantry at a time that the need is greater than ever. SO the MCHS Student Council is planning other opportunities to help and will be inviting other MCAS schools and the community to participate.
Please watch your email and social media for more information about this, coming soon!
Thank You!
Michigan City Area Schools, the Michigan City Police Department, and Michigan City Fire Department raised $2,173.43 with our annual car wash for the United Way on November 16. Not too bad for a car wash with no actual washing taking place!
Food Service - New Schedule!
The MCAS Food Service Department is once again providing a weekly supply of breakfast and lunch for all students. This will continue throughout our period of remote learning.
The meals are available for pickup at all schools TODAY from 4:00-5:30pm, and after this week the distribution will take place each Monday from 4:00-5:30pm. (Note: Joy Elementary is not a pickup site; those meals are available at Barker.) In addition, the MCAS Transportation Department is delivering meals via school bus to some neighborhoods where families may not have transportation. Families in those neighborhoods (Colonial Estates, the Emmett Wise Center, Green Acres, Pinetree Court, the Smrt Center, Tall Timbers, Weatherstone Villiage, Woodberry, and the area surrounding Joy Elementary) are receiving automated calls/emails with specific bus drop off times and locations.
Families must pre-order meals by noon on Wednesdays, for pickup the following Monday. The link to order is http://educateMC.net/foodorder.
If parents have any questions about school meals, they can call the MCAS Food Service office at (219) 873-2131.

Holiday at the Pops Concert
Due to COVID the Laporte County Symphony Orchestra will live stream its Holiday at the Pops concert this year on Saturday, December 12. (Note: the concert will be posted on the LCSO website for viewing throughout the holidays.)
