Principal's Message
Happy Friday Bobcat Families!
Reminder there is no school for students or staff on February 19th in observance of Presidents Day.
Special HUGE thank you to all of you who supported our International Night event on Thursday. Thank you to every family that hosted a table, every guest who came to learn about our amazing cultural diversity, and to every performer. It was a beautiful evening and I hope you met the world at A.C. Moore!
Next week is Kindness Week. Our theme for the week is Kindness is Love In Action. I can't wait to see all the lovely activities our students and staff participate in to show their appreciation for one another.
Next Friday is Bobcats on Board Day. Our goal is to have 100% of our students in attendance. If so, we will hold a school wide dance party towards the end of the day.
Have a great long weekend Bobcats!

Flashback Friday
Our students and staff are treated daily to "The Bobcat Beat" which is our school's morning news program produced and anchored by AC Moore students alongside librarian Jessica Warren. One special part of Friday's news show is FLASHBACK FRIDAY where students get to see photos of themselves at work throughout the week. We will post each Friday's edition in The Bobcat Blaze. See if you can spot your Bobcat at work!
STAY TUNED FOR NEXT WEEK'S EDITION
February Book of the Month
In February’s book of the month the main character, Malik, deals with obsessive compulsive disorder as he plans for and attends a friend’s party. This book is a great jumping off point for conversations about how all brains work differently. It can also open doors for classroom conversations about setting personal goals and related strategies.

Library News From Mrs. Warren
Blazers Needed for News Crew
Did you know that ACM has a daily news show for students called the "Bobcat Beat?" I am lucky to have the opportunity to work with 4 crews of talented 5th graders who meet me on their scheduled week to record the news show which is then sent out to our teachers to view with their class each day.
I would love to enhance the professional quality of our news broadcasts and need your help! Our news crew would greatly benefit from the donation of gently used, clean blazers for our recording sessions. These blazers will not only add a polished touch to our broadcasts but also instill a sense of professionalism among our students. If you have any small blazers that are no longer in use but still in good condition, we would be incredibly grateful for your donation. Please send any donations with your student to the attention of Mrs. Warren. Your generosity will contribute to the success of our news program and provide valuable opportunities for our students to develop essential skills. Thank you!
Note: You can view each Friday's edition of the Bobcat Beat (with our special "Flashback Friday" segment) linked in the Blaze. Be sure to check it out each week!

Joyous Creatures Art Exhibit - Koger Center for the Arts
Make sure to catch the extraordinary art showcase featuring the works of a beloved friend of AC Moore and artist, Marius Valdes. Mr. Valdes, known by our students and staff for his incredible murals gracing our school—one in the library and the latest outside the cafeteria—presents his exhibit, "Joyous Creatures," at the Koger Center. The exhibit is open for viewing until March 11, 2024. Don't miss out on this fantastic display of creativity and joy!
"Joyous Creatures aims to make you smile or laugh if only for a moment. I celebrate characters and creatures from the imagination whether they are dogs, frogs, blobs, or aliens. Character-based art has the capacity to create memorable and engaging visual language that speaks to people of all ages and nationalities. I use my characters to educate, inform, and entertain." -Marius Valdes

Dreher High School Readers
This week, members of the Dreher High School National Honor Society came to do a read aloud for all classes in honor of Black History Month. The students then allowed our Bobcats to ask them questions about being a high school student. A great time was had by all involved!

Bobcats Making Music
The Music Message
Last weekend, one of our fifth-grade musicians, Lucy Rankin, auditioned for and got into the South Carolina All-State Elementary Honor Choir. She represented our school in this statewide honor choir where she rehearsed for two days with a guest clinician and then put on a fantastic concert. Go Lucy!
Bobcat Chorus performed at International Night this Thursday by singing a Chinese folk song, Mo Li Hua.
This Tuesday, Fourth-grade students attended the Link Up Concert performed by the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra. They sang, played recorders, and danced with the orchestra performance and with Richland One fourth-graders from across the district!
Third-grade students have been working on their drumming and are diving into a full band performance in class. Our Pre-K-2 students are getting started on a spring musical performance for Spring Fling, so keep your eye out for more information as we get closer!
Thank you for your support!
