Remote Learning Form for Next Year - May 15 Deadline
District 41 has begun to plan for next school year. It is expected that 3ft social distancing will continue to be in place and we also know that a full remote learning option will be available based on medical criteria. Remote learning will not be open to all students next year. It is important for the district to know if your child meets the medical criteria for remote learning. This information will impact staffing and other plans for next year.
Please CLICK HERE for a physician certification form for remote instuction for next year. The form needs to be filled out by a parent and physician and returned to the District 41 Central Services Office, 793 N. Main Street, Glen Ellyn, by May 15.

Saliva Collection Reminder
Each week, students who are learning in person must submit a saliva sample at their home school on Monday morning (Tuesday and Wednesdays are back up days for collection). Please submit one sample per student, per week. Each student must use their designated saliva tube with barcode. Please make sure your child brings their sample to their homeschool and turns it into their classroom teacher. Thank you for your cooperation.
Reminders
- Please remember that each student has been provided with labeled test tubes that have a unique barcode on them. If you have multiple children, please make sure that you use the correct tubes for returning the sample.
- Make certain that your child produces about 1/4 of an inch of saliva. If the saliva gets stuck in the straw, gently blowing on the straw will help move the saliva into the test tube. The lab cannot process the sample if there is not enough saliva.
- If your child is new to saliva screening, please click here for more information on how to collect and submit the sample. If your child experiences difficulty in producing a saliva sample, please contact Katie Adduci to participate in BinaxNOW rapid antigen testing as an alternative at kadduci@d41.org.
- PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD BRING THE SAMPLE TO THE SCHOOL THEY ATTEND.
Click here for the COVID-19 and saliva testing dashboard to monitor the data from week to week. The dashboard data is updated on Mondays.
Summer Acceleration Program
Over 275 students across the district will be invited to participate in a summer acceleration program being held at both Benjamin Franklin School and Hadley Junior High. The program is designed to help students master essential skills in preparation for the 2021-2022 school year.
This FREE summer acceleration program, offered in cooperation with District 41 and the DuPage Regional Office of Education, is offered to a limited number of students who would most benefit from these lessons. Areas of focus will include math, literacy, and social-emotional learning. The program will run from Monday—Thursday and last for three weeks, June 7-June 25, 8:30-11:30 a.m.
District 41 will be contacting families directly who have children who qualify for this program. Registration is required.
Hadley Band Master Class
Thanks to a generous grant from the Hadley PTA, Hadley Band students recently attended master classes taught by professional musicians. Jacob Taitel (low brass), Dr. J. Michael Weiss-Holmes (saxophone), Gerik Fon-Revutzky (double reeds), Christian Hughes (percussion) and Michelle Pranger (trumpet) all provided virtual lessons on their instruments. These lessons consisted of practice tips and tricks, instrument-specific information, and performances by the professional musicians. In May, Maria Schwartz (flute) and Alyssa Arkin (clarinet) will be providing additional masterclasses.
The Hadley Bands would like to thank the Hadley PTA for their generosity in providing these lessons, as well as all of the musicians for sharing their time and expertise.
Hadley Science Team Competes in Race
On Saturday, April 24th a 7th grade team of Hadley students participated in a middle school electric car competition sponsored by Argonne and CNH Industrial.
Nile W., Eli W., and Keaton P. designed a car, raced it for the best time and had a 30 minute interview with various engineers. Students worked through the engineering processes to make the model better with each heat.
One of the engineers gave the following advice to the students: "Keep smiles on your faces, brightness in your minds, and be an inspiration to your classmates and teammates."
Great job students and Mrs. Sbarra and Mr. Papineau!
