NOMINEES NEEDED FOR JERABEK SSC / SGT
What are the SSC and SGT?
The School Site Council (SSC) is responsible for the following tasks; review school and student performance data, establish/review school goals, monitor implementation of the site plan for student achievement, develop/oversee the parent involvement policy and home school compact and annually approve and recommend the SPSA to the SDUSD Board of Education for approval (categorical budget and school goals).
The Site Governance Team (SGT) ensures shared decision-making occurs on instructional programs including; changes in the school’s subject emphasis, school-wide student discipline plan, site security plan, and multiple-site assignments for applicable programs.
Our SSC and SGT meet one Thursday of the month at 1:00 PM in person and/or Zoom.
We look for a two-year commitment for new members. This year we are in need of three additional parent/community members.
If you are interested in joining our Jerabek SSC/SGT please fill out the nomination form.

Donations needed for our Counseling Center
Jerabek is fortunate to have a full-time counselor, Silvia Henley. In addition, we have the additional support of Catherine Bennett on Fridays. We are creating a multi-dimensional counseling center focused on supporting our students UTK-Grade 5.
We are currently in need of materials for the counseling center. The following materials will support our non-directive play emphasis that will allow our students to process and express thoughts and feelings that they can’t put into words.
Materials needed include (cleaned and disinfected):
- Make-believe materials (hats, dress up, etc.)
- Figurines, dolls, and stuffed animals
- Painting, drawing, or sculpting materials
- Board games, card games, puzzles, etc.
- Sand & water table, doll house/environmental stations, sensory toys
- Indoor sport games (ie. indoor basketball hoop)
We appreciate any and all support!
SCHOOL INFORMATION REMINDERS!
BEFORE SCHOOL:
Students may arrive any time after 8:15 a.m. unless they are participating in the morning SAY program.
Play Structures: We ask that children and their siblings not play on playground equipment in the morning before school begins. When students arrive they are to go to the field (when running club starts), breakfast in the cafeteria, or head to their classroom line.
Breakfast is served in the cafeteria for free. Students may sit in the cafeteria if they are eating breakfast. Once they are finished, they must head to their classroom line or the field. If your student is eating breakfast please plan ahead to ensure they are finished by the time school begins.
AFTER SCHOOL:
Students are released by their teachers at 3:05 p.m. each day except on Thursday and all other minimum days when students are released at 12:25 p.m. Please pick your child up according to the dismissal map. Please plan ahead!
EARLY PICK UP:
If you need to pick up your child early, please plan ahead. If you call the office ahead of time or send a note, we will have you child ready for pick up at the specified time. We understand that unforseen early pick-up is necessary. If you are able, call ahead to allow us 15 minutes to locate your child (especially at recess and lunch times). Please be mindful that your child will be waiting for your arrival. We do not want your child waiting for an extended period of time. Ensure that you have your ID for sign-out!
Thank you for your consideration and patience!
TRAFFIC SAFETY: PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE PICK UP ZONE!
Campus safety is Jerabek's top priority. Teachers, support staff, school police services, and community organizations work together to prevent, prepare, and respond to emergency situations. CAMPUS SAFETY INCLUDES TRAFFIC SAFETY...THE DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP OF STUDENTS!
Click here for the Traffic Safety Page.
ATTENDANCE:
Attendance is a Jerabek focus this year! All California schools are funded based on ADA - Average Daily Attendance. Prompt and regular attendance is important at all times. When your child must be absent for any reason, please report the absence using this Google Form or call the office at (619) 605-1700 (Press 1) by 9:00 a.m. every day of non-attendance, giving the exact reason for the absence. Contact Susan Gallego at sgallego2@sandi.net with any questions.
Thank you for your support!
FOOD IN CLASSROOMS
Due to a high assortment of student food restrictions, food will not be allowed for birthday celebrations. Occasionally your classroom teacher may plan an educational experience in the classroom that may involve food. Teachers will work closely with parents, our school nurse, and health technician to ensure all dietary allergies and restrictions are being followed.
FOOD SERVICES UPDATE - UNIVERSAL FREE MEALS
EVERY student is welcome to join us for FREE Breakfast and Lunch each school day.
Universal FREE Meals start the first day of the 23-24 School Year.
- Breakfast is served from 8:15-8:25 in the cafeteria.
Family Faculty Organization of Jerabek Elementary School
The Family Faculty Organization of Jerabek Elementary School, or FFO, is an organization similar to a PTA, made up of parents, community members, and staff who work together to provide students with added enrichment to their existing curriculum. Everyone who has a child at Jerabek is automatically a member of the FFO.
The FFO bridges the annual gap on hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding that is not given to school, teachers, and families due to service area’s median incomes. 97 cents of every dollar donated to the FFO goes directly back into programs and services for Jerabek Elementary families.
Jerabek will work closely with the FFO to streamline & align communications and increase accessibility. Our weekly newsletter will always include the button below, Jerabek FFO Newsletter, for a direct link to current FFO information.
Click here to visit the FFO Website.
