Jerabek Elementary School is conducting an election to identify parents for the following positions:

Jerabek School Site Council & Site Governance Team Parent/Community Representative (3 positions)

Please submit your vote using this form before Friday, September 15, 2023 at 5:00 PM. The results of our election will be announced in next Sunday's SMORE Newsletter. Our SSC and SGT meets in-person on the 4th Wednesday of every month.

If you do not have the Access ID and Password for your student, please come to the office with a photo ID to request your student's information. You will need an Access ID and Password for each student you wish to link to your account.

Introducing San Diego Public Library Student EXCEL Library Cards

San Diego Unified School District has embarked on an exciting new partnership with San Diego Public Library to ensure all students have access to materials and services necessary for their educational success. Starting this school year, the Library and School District will begin automatically registering students for a San Diego Public Library Student EXCEL Library Card. Once the students EXCEL cards are distributed, students will need to bring their San Diego Unified School Student ID number and their EXCEL card to any of the 36 San Diego Public Library locations to activate.

Hydration Station Project Nears Completion!

Jerabek has six new hydration stations around campus. Each station offers a water filling station that filters water.

The final stage includes minor interior and exterior cosmetic improvements.

Run for Fun - Soft Start for the Running Club!

Join us for Run for Fun before school! Run for fun allows students (and adults if they would like to join) to enjoy running field laps before run club scanning starts. Back gate opens at 8:15. Adults, if you would like to stay and watch, please stay on the fence line and exit by 8:30. Our Jerabek Running Club Team is planning to start the Running Club the week of September 11th.

Donations needed for our Counseling Center

Jerabek is fortunate to have a full-time counselor, Silvia Henley. In addition, we have the additional support of Catherine Bennett on Fridays. We are creating a multi-dimensional counseling center focused on supporting our students UTK-Grade 5.

We are currently in need of materials for the counseling center. The following materials will support our non-directive play emphasis that will allow our students to process and express thoughts and feelings that they can’t put into words.

Materials needed include (cleaned and disinfected):

Make-believe materials (hats, dress up, etc.)
Figurines, dolls, and stuffed animals
Painting, drawing, or sculpting materials
Board games, card games, puzzles, etc.
Sand & water table, doll house/environmental stations, sensory toys
Indoor sport games (ie. indoor basketball hoop)

FOOD SERVICES UPDATE - UNIVERSAL FREE MEALS

EVERY student is welcome to join us for FREE Breakfast and Lunch each school day.

Universal FREE Meals start the first day of the 23-24 School Year.
Breakfast is served from 8:15-8:25 in the cafeteria.

Family Faculty Organization of Jerabek Elementary School

The Family Faculty Organization of Jerabek Elementary School, or FFO, is an organization similar to a PTA, made up of parents, community members, and staff who work together to provide students with added enrichment to their existing curriculum. Everyone who has a child at Jerabek is automatically a member of the FFO.

The FFO bridges the annual gap on hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding that is not given to school, teachers, and families due to service area’s median incomes. 97 cents of every dollar donated to the FFO goes directly back into programs and services for Jerabek Elementary families.

Jerabek will work closely with the FFO to streamline & align communications and increase accessibility. Our weekly newsletter will always include the button below, Jerabek FFO Newsletter, for a direct link to current FFO information.
