CVU Celebrations
November 3, 2023
Dear CVU Community: Happy November, everyone! I am turning the Celebrations lead over to our student council this week. Mira and Ariel are kicking off Student Council Corner. Mira and Ariel, it's all yours!

Hi Everyone! My name is Mira, I am a junior on CVU’s Student Council. Ariel and I, another Student Council member, will alternate writing this column every week. We are starting this section of the CVU Celebrations to let the community know about all the fantastic work our Student Council is doing. Our Student Council is an excellent example of student leadership at CVU and proves that when students are in charge of things THOSE THINGS GET DONE. In this column you will see the projects the Student Council is working on and the outcomes that the whole school gets to enjoy. This week the Student Council successfully put on the annual Crystal Skull Competition! Students, faculty, and staff strutted their stuff across the gym floor and won prizes! We're working on so many other events for the school that we can’t wait for you to enjoy and you can read all about them and more right here!

From Karen Kirkland: Both Calculus classes today worked in groups to synthesize their learning of limits. Here, W4 class groups are engaged in a card matching activity of graphs, equations, limits and descriptions. Lots of productive and energetic conversations occurred.
From Robin Fawcett: Taking a well-earned bow with the end of snapshot one, acting students completed a high quality program of monologue performances! They are now diving into scene work, starting with script analysis.

It's not to late to celebrate Halloween with this NEW episode of The CVU Show.
Thanks for watching and continuing to support the hard work of the CVU Studio Production Class students. Please help us to keep those viewing numbers higher than ever!
Happy Halloween!
I've seen a few high school athletic events in my day, and Thursday night's soccer game ranks among the best I've witnessed. From supportive fans (cheering positively!) to our players who played with their whole hearts, it was awesome. Plus, the goalie match up was incredible. Ziggy rocked HUGE saves and the Colchester goalie (Xander Berthiaume) may be the first opposing athlete I've ever highlighted for a Celebration...he was unbelievable!
Photo Club Contest
Photo Club held its first contest of the year. The contest themes were Sunrise/Sunset and Action. Here are the winners.
NEW CLUB!
Kiara B. presented to the first meeting of CVU's newest club - Animal Welfare Club - on Thursday this week. The club focus is on animal welfare in our community, country and the world. The group plans to educate themselves about issues related to animal welfare and plan events/fundraisers to support local work related to animals. Join us in room 218-2 on Thursdays for C3!
French students created "les monstres" in Lianna Reed's French 1 class and then used their vocabulary of adjectives, colors and numbers to describe their physical and personal characteristics. Students will continue with these monsters by creating dialogues between the monsters next week.
Happy November!

Faculty/Staff Celebrations
Meet Mrs. EVD (Elisa Van Duyne), CVU Theater Director. In this segment she is very patiently being interviewed by Adam Bunting. We discuss the show, her professional background, and the awful (terrible) candy corn Gary placed on set.
I can't imagine working in a school where the faculty, staff, and students aren't playful with one another. I thank all of our educators for remembering that joy is often at the center of learning and that adults don't always have to take themselves so seriously!
Thanks to Arthur Chiaravalli, the force behind CVU Inspiration Awards. Thanks for inspiring us!
