The River Hawk
Rio Norte News - January 12, 2024
A Note From the Principal
Hello River Hawk Families,
I want to start by letting you know how great our River Hawks did in our Active Lockdown Drill yesterday. Students took the drill seriously and were cooperative with all of our adults, which helps us to assess and learn. I am pleased to say we locked down very quickly and the entire drill was complete in under 10 minutes!
As we head into the three day weekend to honor the work and life of Dr. King, I took a moment in Thursday's RioTV address to share the quote, pictured here, with our students. I asked our River Hawks to take a moment this weekend to reflect on the things they do and say to others and ask, "were my actions kind? Do the things I do and say make people happy? Am I a part of making someone's day better? After sharing his words, I then challenged each of them to think about what they are doing to positively impact other people around them, reminding them the importance of kindness and not being a part of adding hurt or sadness to the lives of those around us.

Notification on No ID Card
Aside from a minor, and quickly resolved, technical glitch on Thursday, scanning went well all week. We have been encouraging students without their card to go to the library for replacement. Toward the end of next week, parents whose students are regularly without their ID card will receive notification. Please help us ensure students always have their ID card with them. Replacements are $5 in the library. If there is a hardship, a student or parent can reach out to their counselor for assistance. Additionally, students who have their card, but the barcode is faded and not reading well can bring their card to the library for a free exchange for a new card.

The $20 tickets can still be obtained on the webstore during that time. The webstore is most compatible with non-apple devices and works best with Chrome or Firefox browsers.
