Character Trait of the Month
Our Character Strong trait for January is PERSEVERANCE. Check out what each grade level is working on!
A Message from the Principal
Hello Hoover Families,
Our students and staff have been busy on and off-site! Check out pictures from the Creativity Festival at Ted Mann Concert Hall, where selected 4th & 5th grade students attended, AND pictures from Energy and U at the University of Minnesota, where all 3rd & 4th grade students participated.
This week, January 21st-27th, is Paraeducator Recognition Week. We are THANKFUL for all of our amazing paraeducators at Hoover and the work and dedication they have for our students and staff. A week is not nearly enough time to honor our wonderful paras!
There is still time to RSVP for our Reading Family Night that is happening this Thursday, January 25th from 5:30-7:00. Just let your student's classroom teacher know that you plan to attend. Come listen to a fantastic duo, The WonderWeavers, bring stories to life, enjoy a light dinner, and enter a raffle for a prize. Hope to see you there!

FREE DENTAL CARE FOR UNDERSERVED CHILDREN
Friday, Feb. 2 & Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024
Give Kids a Smile is a charitable outreach program that provides free dental care to underserved children (typically ages 3-18). Dental clinics throughout the state volunteer to provide these services during Children’s Dental Health Month.
WHEN IS IT?
February 2 and 3, 2024
(Some clinics hold events on alternative dates.)
LOCATION?
Volunteer dental clinics across the state.
HOW ARE APPOINTMENTS MADE?
Families can locate a participating clinic by visiting www.mndental.org/gkas or contacting the United Way by dialing 2-1-1 or texting the zip code to 898-211.They can then contact the clinic directly to schedule an appointment.
Please send an extra pair of pants and underwear for your child in case there is an accident (bathroom, breakfast/lunch spill, etc.). The health office loves donations of gently used sweatpants and leggings sizes 5-10. We also appreciate new packs of underwear for boys and girls sizes 5-10.
The health office has free at home Covid tests. Email Darlene.Anderson@ahschools.us and we can send them home with your child.
Wondering if your child is well enough to come to school? Click here for more information.
If your child goes to the doctor or dentist, please request a doctor's note and send it with your child for attendance purposes.
Parent Educator, VSC, and PTO Updates
Parent Educator, Nichol Michaels - January Parent Press - Physical Fitness in a Digital World
Volunteer Service Coordinator, Tina Fletcher - January VSC Newsletter
- A message from our Volunteer Service Coordinator, Tina Fletcher:
- Are you hoping to chaperone a field trip for your child's class? Come in and help out in your child's classroom? Volunteer at fun events like dances, carnivals etc? All of these events are super fun to be a part of and volunteer at, but you need to have a Volunteer Application and CRHR completed in order to volunteer. Having these forms filled out right away at the beginning of the year makes you more likely to be selected for volunteer opportunities you are interested in such as field trips because you will get emails about these opportunities right away and your paperwork being processed won't delay you being selected.
- If you have any questions, please email Tina Fletcher at tina.fletcher@ahschools.us. To see current opportunities, click this link.
PTO - Hoover PTO would love to increase participation! ALL parents/guardians are welcome to join our PTO. Please check them out on the Hoover PTO Facebook page and like/follow them to learn more about what's going on! PTO also has a website with additional information. Please bookmark this site and check-in for updates.
Also, please like/follow our Hoover Elementary Facebook page too!
