The Eagle Eye
Children are the heart of Imlay!
Principal's Message
5/2/22
Dear Imlay Elementary School Staff and Families,
I am writing today to share some bittersweet news. My colleague at Farmington View Elementary School, Rian Petrick, will be taking on a new job after the conclusion of this school year and I have been asked to succeed him as principal.
While I look forward to serving and getting to know the Farmington View community, I will miss being a part of Imlay - we have such an amazing team of staff, students, families, and community here. I am truly grateful for the support you have given me over the past four years; I have enjoyed working and learning alongside you.
The posting for a replacement principal will go up on Friday, April 22, and close on Sunday, May 1. Our Human Resources team will host feedback sessions for staff and families on Monday, May 2. Please participate and share your thoughts on the qualities and attributes you would like to see in your next principal. If you are unable to participate during the session, feel free to email your input to Kristina Gantt at ganntk@hsd.k12.or.us by Wednesday, May 4. Interviews are slated for Friday, May 6, and there will hopefully be an announcement about the successful candidate the following week.
Again, thank you for welcoming me to the Imlay family. I am confident your next principal will continue and expand upon our history of excellence. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Amanda Bethune for filling in for me this spring as I have tended to some personal matters. It has given me great comfort knowing Imlay is in such capable hands.
Respectfully,
Jen McCalley
Principal

Garden Volunteers Needed for Painting and Building!
We're also in need of volunteers willing to make benches for our garden. We'll provide the wood. Contact Shannon Lusk (lusks@hsd.k12.or.us) or Maggie Lally (lalllym@hsd.k12.or.us).
Items for Our MakerSpace and Garden
The Garden would love donations of adult-size gloves (for 4-6th grade students), hummingbird feeders, and weather stations.
Drop items by the front office and let them know they're for STEAM.
Volunteers at Imlay
We are in need of parent volunteers! We are so excited to have parents back in our building to volunteer. There are three steps to move through to volunteer:
1. Go to: https://www.hsd.k12.or.us/Page/163 to fill out the volunteer background check.
2. Once these checks have cleared, you will receive an email asking you to complete a survey and upload proof of COVID-19 vaccination, per the Governor’s vaccination mandate.* (*Volunteers may fill out a form requesting a medical or religious exception; however, these will only be considered on an as-needed basis as staff availability allows. Anyone receiving an approved exception will be required to follow a set of increased safety measures when volunteering.)
3. In addition, all volunteers will need to submit to a fingerprint-based criminal records check by March 28, 2022, in order to continue volunteering. Until this check is completed, volunteers will not be assigned duties that could put them in a situation where they have direct, unsupervised contact with students. If the check is not completed by March 28, 2022, your volunteer status will go from “approved” to “pending” and you will no longer be allowed to volunteer.
