This week, OHS Senior Kayleigh Shadwick has been selected as an Athlete of the Week! Kayleigh is an asset to the OHS Varsity Cheer team, recently helping the team win another 6A Regional Championship, according to Head Coach Tess Keller.
"Our program is fortunate enough to have an athlete like Kayleigh," Keller said. "Kayleigh demonstrates everything the culture our program sets out to obtain. While Kayleigh’s athleticism and skills are apparent, what is more impressive is her willingness to adhere to the 'it’s not what’s best for me, but what’s best for the team' motto our program implements. She willingly accepts change and correction, and is one of our most coachable athletes. Kayleigh plays a vital part in the success of our program and we are so thankful to have one last season with her."
Congrats Kayleigh!
This week, OHS Junior Laine Garner has been selected as an Athlete of the Week! Laine is an integral member of OHS's cross country program, according to Head Coach Mitchell Furtkamp.
"Laine has been a cornerstone of our program for three years," Furtkamp said. "She brings confidence and positivity to every practice and race. Laine set a personal record (PR) this week at the prestigious Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Her time of 19:49 ranks her 11th all-time in program history. Laine looks to be running stronger every week heading into our postseason races. It will be exciting to see how the girls team and Laine finish out this cross country season."
Congrats Laine!
This week, OHS Junior MJ McDonald has been selected as Artist of the Week! MJ is a key member of Ozark High School choir program, according to Choir Director Amy Brammer.
"MJ has been an incredible leader for the OHS Choral program, both in Men's Chorus and Chorale," Brammer said. "He is always on time to class, always on task during rehearsal, and provides leadership to his section in many ways. MJ is very musically gifted, and sings his part out with confidence, but he is also an exemplary example of the type of student we are trying to foster within our program."
Congrats MJ!
This week OHS Junior Riley Jackson is our Tiger of the Week! Riley is the president of Educators Rising, a club geared at helping students who want to go into education, Sponsors Trista Hilton and Amy Sappington said.
"Riley is the president of our chapter this year and her passion for being a teacher in the future is motivational for all of the students in Educators Rising," Hilton said. "She is a great leader, very organized, driven to be successful, and most importantly has an undeniable passion for the field of education. Riley attended regional, state, and national EdRising conferences and competitions last year and plans to do so again this year. She sets an extraordinary example for all students in the education and training program and we are so blessed to have her."
