Message from Mr. Kingery
Dear Art Rutkin Elementary Families,
We have a lot to be thankful for after two successful weeks of school. This first year is off to a great start, and we know 2023-2024 will be quite a year to remember. All of our students have settled into regular routines from arrival to dismissal. The first practice fire drill was a great success yesterday with all students showing they know how to be safe, responsible and considerate. The whole school worked together and put safety first throughout the entire practice drill. Great job Rams!!! Please let your child’s teacher know about any conversations at home that we can help support at school as we teach, practice and reflect on our safety drills.
Thank you to our amazing PSO volunteers on behalf of our entire school community. The first meeting on Sept. 12th was a great success and we were able to get some Fun Run details figured out. We will have a successful first Fun Run on September 29th with everyone pulling together and working out final details. The times will be between 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM. We will have grades kindergarten & 1st, 2nd & 3rd and 4th & 5th participate together in three Fun Run sessions with two classes each. Exact times will come out next week so everyone can plan for this fun morning. There will also be a fun school spirit week leading up to the Fun Run on Friday the 29th.
Art Literacy Volunteers Needed
Art Literacy lessons are being prepared, and we need more volunteers. Ideally there will be two volunteers working together with a class. There is more information in this newsletter. No prior experience is needed, and it is a lot of fun to work with students through Art Literacy lessons. Please contact our Art Literacy Coordinator at rutkinartlit@gmail.com.
With Gratitude,
Mr. Jamie Kingery
Principal

Art Lit Needs You
📣📣 Calling Volunteers 📣📣
Art Lit is a district wide, volunteer led program to bring art into the elementary classrooms. Students learn about an artist (or group of artists) and then create art in a similar style or medium. This happens about 5-6 times each academic year. We need volunteers to help share information about a preassigned artist and then facilitate an art project. The presentations and art projects are selected and organized by the coordinator, we just need family volunteers to help lead them in each classroom. This would require about 2-4 hours per month. We would do a pre-meeting to show you the presentation and how to do the art project. Then you'd schedule a time with the class teacher to share with the students. We'd love to have two volunteers per classroom! No experience is necessary but volunteers must complete a background check facilitated by the district. Please contact Leah Baldwin if you're interested: rutkinartlit@gmail.com.
