PRIDE Under Construction - Week #31 🚧
Greetings, STEAM Family!
I hope each of you had an enjoyable and relaxing Spring Break! As we return, we acknowledge that we are in the final stretch of this school year; however, it is important that home and school work together to continue to remind our students of the expectation to FINISH STRONG! So, one may be wondering, "How can I ensure that my child finishes strong at SDE?" Well, I'm so glad that you asked!😄 Through partnership, school and home can ensure our scholars stay focused and follow through on the "A-ESSENTIALS" listed below for the duration of the school year:
ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is important. Please make sure your child arrives to school in a timely manner each day. We cannot teach students, and likewise, students cannot learn all that is expected if they are not here on a consistent basis. It is also important for students to adhere to our school-wide dress code daily. Any special circumstances or "dress down" days will be communicated in advance with corresponding documentation from our administrative team.
ATTITUDE
Demonstration of our school-wide P.R.I.D.E. traits in all areas is always the expectation for our entire SDE community. Throughout this year, our students have been learning the importance of maintaining a growth mindset in all aspects of their learning and life. People with a growth mindset are more likely to embrace challenges, persist in the face of obstacles, enjoy putting in the effort, learn from criticism, and find inspiration in others' successes. Students who embrace a growth mindset understand the value of effort and persistence in reaching for their goals. In DCS, our mission is for students to become effective communicators, problem solvers, and lifelong learners.
ACHIEVEMENT
Please know that instruction is still very much 'UNDER CONSTRUCTION' at SDE, meaning providing our students with high quality instruction in a safe environment is our top priority. As a reminder, one of our school's improvement goals is for each student to improve his/her individual reading and math score by at least 10 points by the end of the school year according to our district's designated screener assessments (Reading Inventory, Math Inventory, Acadience, PALS, etc.) In addition to achievement on these screeners, we would like for as many of our 3rd & 4th grade students as possible to score in the Level 3 (Proficient) and Level 4 (Distinguished) ranges on the Georgia Milestones Assessment. In order to accomplish these goals, let's continue to push our students to review the skills and concepts that have been taught, as well as reinforce those skills at home by completing homework and practice activities nightly. Again, our goal is for our entire SDE family to FINISH STRONG!
As always, feel free to contact us anytime with questions or concerns, and thank you for your continued support of "THE" Susie Dasher Elementary School!
In the meantime, stay tuned for another week full of P.R.I.D.E.!

This Week at SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
- The PRIDE Afterschool Remediation/Enrichment Program takes place on Mondays - Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Snacks and transportation will be provided. For more information regarding the after school program waiting list, please contact the school at (478) 353-8250.
