It’s hard to believe we’re starting our 4th week of school this week! Please find Potomac Senior High School updates below:

+ ATTENDANCE CHECK: School attendance remains one of the strongest indicators of student academic success at Potomac. Our schoolwide Continuous Improvement Plan also includes action steps to reduce chronic absenteeism in order for student learning to occur at optimal levels. With 3 weeks down, please see the graphic below and take time to review student attendance data which is available 24/7 in ParentVUE/StudentVUE. If your student has missed 1 or more full days of school or has 2 or more unexcused tardies to class, a reminder of expectations and school consequences listed HERE in the Potomac Student Handbook may be helpful.


We will continue schoolwide efforts to reduce tardies/absenteeism throughout the year which could impact student ability to attend extracurricular functions and events.


* Student tardiness due to bus transportation issues will never be held against the student. Yellow “Bus Tardies” indicated in ParentVUE/StudentVUE do not count towards student discipline.

+ LUNCH ACCOUNTS: Start the year off with up-to-date student lunch accounts! Payments may be made using cash, check made payable to “PWCSFNS”, or credit card through “My School Bucks”. + SAFETY SCREENING TECHNOLOGY UPDATE: As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students, we are pleased to announce that we will implement new safety screening technology starting on Wednesday, September 27th. This advanced technology will enhance our existing security protocols and help us quickly identify potential threats, ensuring the safety of our students and staff.


Please see THIS letter to our Potomac community with more logistics and details regarding implementation of our EVOLV safety screening technology system later this month.

+ SIGNS OF SUICIDE: The Potomac Student Mental Health Team will be presenting the Signs of Suicide presentation to all 9th graders on September 27th and September 28th. Following the presentation there will be a discussion and an opportunity for students to respond via a link if they need to speak with a member of the mental health team. This could be their school counselor, the school social worker or the school psychologist.


Please see THIS attached letter which includes additional information on how to preview the presentation and how to opt your child out. If you are choosing to opt-out, please turn in this letter to your child's school counselor no later than Thursday September 14th.

+ POTOMAC ATHLETICS TICKETS: Fall sports are here! Throughout the 23 – 24 school year, all HOME game tickets and athletic passes will be sold online only! Tickets will be available via Ticket Spicket and can be purchased beforehand by clicking HERE.
