Welcome Fall and Football!
Thank goodness that the hot weather has finely broken (a little) and football has finely started! Most of you all have gotten into the groove of virtual learning and are doing great! Post-High School Planning Meetings
- Monday, September 11 @ 6:30 PM at MVS----- Senior families
- Tuesday, September 19 @ 6:30 PM at MVS----- Sophomore & Junior families
Come meet with Jennifer Abernathy, Maryville City School guidance counselor, to go over your student’s post-high school options and learn what needs to be done and when. For sophomores and juniors, she will share info on classes that can be taken during high school to prepare your student for college or career. For seniors, she will share very important information regarding the college application process and financial aid/scholarship information. Mark your calendar!
MHS Homecoming Parade
This year's Maryville High School homecoming parade will be held on Friday, September 15th. The parade will again start at the church across from MJHS and proceed down Cedar Street, take a right on Lawrence and Left on Curtis to the back fields. We anticipate that the festivities will begin at 9:40am. If you would like to stand along the route to watch the parade, they would enjoy sharing the moment. (Our very own Chemistry teacher, Kayla Davis, was the Teacher Homecoming Queen last year!)
ACT Retakes for All Seniors
Tuesday, October 17th at Maryville Virtual School---- All MVS Seniors will retake the ACT test on October 17th at Maryville Virtual School. This retake is a free, on-line test opportunity provided by the state of Tennessee.
- Who: ALL MVS Seniors
- When: 8:00 until 12:00
- Where: Maryville Virtual School
- How: Arrive at the MVS front office by 8:15 with a charged laptop, an ID, pencils, and an approved calculator. (See ACT approved calculator info here.)
Note- Seniors all received a personal email with an attachment and directions to register for the ACT. Please be sure to complete that before October 17th.
Mandatory PreACT for All Sophomores
- Who: ALL MVS Sophomores
- When: 8:00 until 12:00
- Where: Maryville Virtual School
- How: Arrive at the MVS front office by 8:00 with No. 2 pencils and an approved calculator. (See ACT approved calculator info here.)
Note- Students will be allowed to text parents when the test is over for pickup, if we finish early.
LDC Courses (Local Dual Credit)
If your student is currently in an LDC course, be watching for an email from us about how to sign up the take the LDC test in December to possibly earn credit from Pellissippi State for your current course. These courses include-- Marketing 1, Applied Math Concepts, and Website Development.
Blount County College Fair
The Blount County College Fair will take place on Wednesday, September 27 from 5:30-8:00 pm. This free, in-person college fair will allow high school students and their parents to connect with over 50 colleges, universities, technical schools, and art schools so that you can get the information you need during your college search. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with a variety of college representatives who are eager to discuss your many options for college! Counselor's Corner
MVS encourages high-achieving 10th and 11th grade students to consider the PSAT/NMSQT. This test data is used for students to be entered into the National Merit Scholarship Program. Your student may take it as a sophomore or a junior. The junior year scores are the ones that are considered for the scholarship program. Our students have the opportunity to test with Maryville High School, if they complete the registration process before the below deadline. If you have questions, please contact Jennifer Abernathy at jennifer.abernathy@maryville-schools.org.

- To Register--- Print and complete this form. Return it to the MVS office along with $25 in cash or check (made out to MVS).
The following colleges will have representatives at Maryville High School on these days from 11:45 AM to 1:45 PM. If you are a MVS junior or senior and want to visit with the representative, please check in at MHS front desk and then make your way to their guidance office.
- 9/11: Austin Peay State University
- 9/18: Tusculum College
