Message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents & Community Members,
It is wonderful to have our students back on campus! Great learning is taking place for kids in all three cohorts and we’re thrilled to see students in-person again! We missed them terribly!
I am thrilled to share that last week, thanks to phenomenal collaboration from Nevada County, Placer County, Tahoe Forest Health System, and TTUSD’s Leadership, EVERY TTUSD staff member had the opportunity to get the first dose of the COVID vaccine. Tahoe Forest Hospital put together a seamless vaccine clinic for TTUSD on February 3 and we can’t thank them enough!
Our TTUSD team will be receiving their second of the COVID vaccine on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. Based on the information I have from Tahoe Forest and the likelihood that 50% or more of our staff may experience some side effects, Friday, February 26 will be a virtual instruction day. This will allow us to keep the school schedule as consistent as possible for our students for the majority of the week, and allow ample time for each teacher and staff member to get their COVID vaccine appointment.
To clarify, here is what the week of February 22 -26 will look like:
Monday, 2/22-Cohort A on campus
Tuesday, 2/23-Cohort A on campus
Wednesday, 2/24-distance learning day for all students
Thursday, 2/25-Cohort B on campus
Friday, 2/26-distance learning day for all students
Ski Skate Week is next week! Please help us keep our TTUSD community safe and our classrooms open for in-person instruction by continuing to practice safety measures during Ski Skate week! Here is a link to the state’s current travel advisory.
Sincerely,
Carmen Ghysels Superintendent Chief Learning Officer
Please put safety first!
Stay Safe to Stay in School
No matter how extensive our safety measures are, we can’t do this without you:
Please put safety first!
Your actions and your family's actions impact everyone
What you do when you’re off-campus, affects the health and safety of those on campus.
Don’t let your guard down, always have safety at the forefront of all your activities
Do your part to keep the transmission of COVID low
Continue to keep your "social bubble" small
Mask up
Avoid large gatherings
Wash your hands often throughout the day
Lastly, always please stay home if you are sick. Please keep students home if they are sick and communicate with our schools if symptoms are present.
We want to keep our TTUSD community safe and ask all to follow our health and safety protocols on and off-campus. Let’s each do our part and get our county back in the red (or orange!) tier!
