School Safety - StayALERT
School safety is always an important part of the BMS educational setting. Blanco MS and Blanco ISD have partnered with Stay Alert to provide an avenue for students, parents, teachers, and community members to report issues related to school safety. If you are aware of an incident, situation, activity, etc. that needs to be reported to school officials, please utilize one of the Stay Alert program avenues to report it. Those reporting can choose to remain anonymous.
You can report:

Holiday Break
Friday (April 7) and Monday (April 10) are staff and student holidays. There are no classes scheduled for those days. Classes will resume on Tuesday (April 11) at 8 AM. Happy Easter!
Keeping Blanco Beautiful
Members of the Blanco National Junior Honor Society helped with the "trash off" in Blanco last weekend. The students and their sponsor (Pam Meier) collected trash in their designated area around BMS to help keep Blanco beautiful. We appreciate their efforts and for representing BMS in this activity.
Angel to the Rescue!
Mr. (Angel) Hernandez is the go-to person for anything and everything when a problem arises. Mr. Hernandez is a member of the BISD Maintenance Department and is assigned primarily to BMS. He keeps everything working and our facilities functioning great. Occasionally he is called on to do something that is not in any job description. This week was one of those times. We had a cat that had made its way onto the canopy to the bus pickup area. The problem was, the cat couldn't find its way down from the canopy. Mr. Hernandez grabbed his ladder and guided the cat back to a tree where the cat was able to make its way down to the ground and quickly headed back to wherever it calls home. Thank you Mr. Hernandez for always being available when needed and no matter what the job may require!
March Madness
Ms. Meier's 7th Grade Science Classes follow a March Madness bracket in conjunction with the NCAA March Madness Basketball Men's and Women's Tournaments. Different species of animals compete with each other in the bracket. Students research the animals and make predictions about the outcome of the match ups. The Golden Eagle, Wolverine, Okapi, and Rock Hyrax made the final four. The Wolverine defeated the Golden Eagle while the Okapi defeated the undersized Rock Hyrax. The Okapi and Wolverine will face off in the final contest. Stay tuned for final results.
Avery Hutton continues to lead the contest with 94 points, but has been tied atop the leader board by Josiah Romero. Josie White is right behind with 91 points.
