Spring Fling

Weather Guidelines

We try to go outside everyday for recess. NISD weather guidelines are below. Please make sure that your student is dressed appropriately for the weather.

Ride Changes

If you have a change of transportation for your student(s), please put the change of transportation in writing. Please include the following information:

  • Student's Name(s)
  • Teacher's Name(s)
  • Date
  • Transportation change

Ride changes, including pick-ups from school will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. each afternoon. With the exception of emergencies, the office will be closed to visitors from 2:30 to 3:10 p.m. each day. This will allow us to maintain a secure environment while we prepare for and implement our dismissal routines. Unless emergency circumstances exist, all visitors arriving on campus after 2:30 p.m. will be asked to return to their car or wait on the lawn until our busses have left campus.

School Lunches

If you child will be purchasing lunch from the cafeteria please make sure they have money in their account. You can add money to their student account by visiting ww.myschoolbucks.com

At www.myschoolbucks.com, parents may access their child’s meal online, view payment balances, set up low balance notifications, and apply money using Visa or MasterCard. Online payments are charged a convenience fee per transaction. All online payments take 24 hours to appear on your child’s meal account.

Lunch visitors

Snack

We have a snack time each day. Your child may bring a SMALL, HEALTHY snack to eat.

Reading

In reading this week, we launched our book club unit! In this first bend we are studying the This week in Reading, we practiced breaking down non-fiction text into manageable sections and determined importance in longer non-fiction text.

Writing

This week in writing we learned about different structures that we can use to teach others about nonfiction topics in our writing. We also learned how to organize our information using subtopics in our nonfiction writing booklets.

Phonics

This week in Phonics we practiced being word collectors, learning bigger and stronger words to add to our vocabulary. We also continue our cursive practice, starting capital letters.

Math

This week in math we learned that polyhedrons are 3D shapes with all flat surfaces. We learned that flat surfaces are called faces. We also learned the difference between pyramids and prisms.

Science

This week we continued to learn more about the adaptations of animals. We were able to explore how the different adaptations help animals survive and adapt to their environments.
