A Message from the Principal
Greetings Bronco Families!
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones doing well. It was another great week at Crews. Mr. Rod Hames hosted a wonderful event to encourage and empower students through the lens of personal responsibility and entrepreneurship. Through his servant leadership, we had a wonderful turnout of parents, community members, and district leaders including our very own superintendent, Dr. Calvin J. Watts. To round out this wonderful week, we celebrated our Teacher of the Year finalists: Mrs. Kate Heier, Mr. Rod Hames, and Mr. Charlie Hollingshead. Please help me congratulate our 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year, Charlie Hollingshead! Special thanks to our PTSA for supporting our celebration through volunteerism & teacher gifts!
With a new school month on the horizon, rigorous learning and positive relationships will be our continued focus. As we focus on these areas, we will ask students to participate in a wellness survey. The survey results help us to determine how we can better support student experiences at school. The survey window is September 8th-15th. If you want to learn more about the survey, see the questions, or opt out of it, please visit this webpage EES Wellness Screener for more information!
Please have a wonderful holiday weekend!

8th grade parents - you can also order an 8th grade tribute to commemorate the end of middle school. Orders are accepted until October, so don't wait!
ABSENCES
If your student is absent, send a parent note or doctor's excuse with your child upon returning to school (and no later than two weeks following the first day returning to school) to receive an excused absence. Excuse notes should be submitted to the student’s grade level office. Parent emails to teachers about student absences (partial or complete day) are not the official excuse but are suitable as an informational courtesy.

BHS FOOTBALL POLICIES
Dear Parents and Community Members,
To promote a safe and positive game day environment at Brookwood High School football games, we will be continuing the processes we began last year regarding how students will be admitted and supervised.
First, any student not of high school age must enter with a parent and must sit with that parent for the entirety of the game. Any student not accompanied will be escorted to the main gate and will have to be picked up by their parent immediately.
Second, all high school-aged students not accompanied by their parent will be required to show their current Brookwood student ID upon entry. Only students from Brookwood High School and the visiting team will be granted admission without a parent.
No refunds will be given for students not following these guidelines or those who are asked to leave.
Also, please be reminded that we have a clear bag policy. Please use this link to view our gameday bag policy (https://www.gcpsk12.org/domain/9990).

Parents - Stay Connected @ Crews!
Parent Portal: If you don't have a Parent Portal account, click here for more information and to get a form to request an account. The Parent Portal is the best way to stay up-to-date on your child's grades, attendance, and more!
Newsletter: We will be sending our weekly newsletter, the Bronco Bulletin, to all parents every Friday. Be sure to check your Parent Portal account to make sure we have the correct email address so you don't miss any upcoming news and events!
Social Media: Follow us online! We are on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
ParentSquare:
You've probably seen information from GCPS about our new communication system, ParentSquare. If you have not yet activated your account or you have questions, please check out GCPS' site at www.gcpsk12.org/Page/35909. You can find instructions for activating your account, customizing your notification settings, and more.
We did want to clarify a couple of things about ParentSquare. First, there is a ParentSquare app, but you do not have to download it if you do not want to. Using the app will give you quick access to the announcements, as well as the option of having push notifications, but you can also just use the web version of ParentSquare through your Parent Portal.
Second, ParentSquare gives you the opportunity to customize how and when you receive your notifications. You can choose whether you would prefer instant (as soon as the message is posted) or digest (a compilation of all messages sent through ParentSquare that day) for email, text, and app notifications. You can choose a different setting for text, email, and app notifications. For example, you can set email to digest, texts to instant, and app notifications to off, if you prefer. Be aware that the digest option begins to send at 6:00 pm, so you will receive all messages together typically between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. The default setting for parents is digest, so you will need to go in and change this if you would prefer instant. Emergency/time sensitive messages will still be sent instantly, regardless of settings.
