Dear Cardinal Family,
In high school this week, we have had extensive (and sometimes heated) conversations about Mighty Machines and Blippi and who did it better.
Imagine sitting in class, a meeting, maybe even a job interview or anything requiring a modicum of focus, while a large backhoe rips up sidewalks outside your window. The result for me has been a mouth-gaping stare. The work this week has been so dramatic, we are getting all kinds of questions. My favorite one so far is, "What's all the construction at the high school about?"
Dr. Bowers put out a blog post answering the basic questions we've been receiving, and it's a good reminder that we need to continue communicating every step of the way.
After years of planning, we're obviously excited to see progress. Workers are in the "site preparation" phase. Their goals are to get adequate stormwater drainage in place, move any necessary utilities to keep all occupied parts of the building fully operational, and have materials on site to start demolition and construction of the new main academic building. You'll see it begin to happen this summer with a planned occupancy of Fall 2024.
As usual, thanks for your patience and kindness.
Have a great weekend and Go Cards!
Sincerely,
Pete Scully
Principal
Thomas Worthington HS

- MANDATORY Student - Athlete Fall Meeting

**TWHS Construction Update**
On Monday morning, we will have an altered parent drop-off plan as seen HERE. Staff and signs will direct you, but we ask for your patience. We expect this disruption to last three days as there will be a crane blocking access to the back loop. The crane is necessary to set roof trusses on the new fieldhouse building.
**Reminder - Door 16 is the Main Visitor Entrance**
The main visitor entrance has moved to Door 16 (back, center of the building). Doors 1 and 2, along with most of the south side of the building, will only be accessible to construction vehicles and emergency vehicles. All visitors must enter through Door 16. It is our normal location for student drop-off and pick-up before and after school by car. This procedure will not change, although there is designated visitor parking and the entrance will be staffed throughout the day. (Here is a map of the property if you need it.)
**Final Exam Schedule**
Buses will operate on the normal schedule during exam week; except on Wednesday, when there will be two bus runs home: an early run at 12:40 p.m. and a second run at the regular time of 3:20. Lunch will be served on Wednesday from 12:40 to 1 :25 p.m. Students who have arranged to take makeup exams Wednesday afternoon will be able to eat lunch and take the later bus, if needed.
You will receive additional information regarding the exam schedule next week.
Donations Needed for Senior Send Off
Please help support the 2023 TWHS Seniors as they celebrate the end of their education at TWHS. This year the class will be attending a Senior Send Off at the Flats on May 19th from 11:30 - 3:00 to participate in games and treats prior to graduation weekend.
Your help would be greatly appreciated to provide them with drinks and snacks plus assistance with the serving of these items. NOTE: food and drinks may be dropped off at the main office.
Please join us in celebrating their success!

** ACADEMIC UPDATES**
What Teachers and Staff are Saying
The 3Rs - Cardinal Expectations at TWHS
There are three general behavior expectations at Thomas Worthington High School: build Relationships, show Respect, and be Responsible.
We define build Relationships as “to cultivate belonging”. It is our goal that 100% of our students feel connected to at least one adult that they trust enough to go to when they really need it. From our morning greeting as each student enters the building, to each teacher connecting with each student, to our Wednesday homeroom lessons, we strive to create an environment that is so welcoming - all are inspired to learn.
We define show Respect as “use appropriate language”. We work towards being mindful of the words we speak and the immense power they have on ourselves and others. We learn that the words we say, along with the time, setting, and location have an impact on others.
We define be Responsible as “to attend and be on time to class”. We are intentional about the value of showing up, being on time, and being present for ourselves and others.

2023 Senior Survey - Please Complete!
Dear Class of 2023,
Please complete this brief survey so the TWHS School Counseling Department can get your final transcript sent to the college you will be attending this fall. If you do not complete the survey, we will not know where to send your transcript! Colleges may withhold your financial aid, or delay your course registration if they don't have your final transcript stating you graduated.
Additionally, as a reminder to all students who took College Credit Plus classes and will be moving on to college in the fall, you will need to request your transcripts directly from Columbus State and/or Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) in order for your new college to be able to evaluate your transcript and award you credits for completed classes. You will be able to request for your transcripts to be sent electronically. Please visit the appropriate college website below to make the request:
