Greetings SCG Community,
Thank you to all that made it out to Back To School Night 2023!
A quick recap of our focus points at Santa Cruz Gardens this Year:
Our Science and Gardening Emphasis Program (SAGE Program)
Our Social Emotional Learning programs and routines to build strong life skills and character
Our Community partnerships with you and many fantastic local and national businesses and organizations- learn more and help us by volunteering (see below)
Growing leaders- offering opportunities for student voice, student spaces, and student groups/ committees such as the Green Team, Peace Pals, and Student Leadership. As well as our practices in focusing on the whole child, student collaboration, and speaking for oneself.
See more for our Top 10 reasons why SCG is the place to be! Please check our website for news and announcements as well. We have an article coming soon on our first SAGE assembly of the year.
Lastly, I'll just mention again, we love our teachers and staff- they are so professionally excellent, so caring and supportive, and really above and beyond in efforts to support our kids feeling included, supported, healthy, and challenged.
The main ways to get involved at Santa Cruz Gardens:
If you are interested in helping our school with cultural events, and giving your input on how we serve our multilingual community- ELAC- we meet every 6-8 weeks
If you are interested in helping create our school plans around building strong school culture and academic excellence- SSC- we will meet every 6-8 weeks.
If you are interested in volunteering with Home and School Club to serve on the board, or helping with fun events for our kids and community- we meet monthly.
If you have an idea to grow our SAGE program, or a strong partnership for our community, other parts of our school, or with our Character, SAGE Assemblies
Contact Jade for ideas and assistance with our Garden and Outdoor Spaces - jgiotta@suesd.org
Contact me, Mr. Albano, for volunteering to help in our parent committees or for an event or participation in an assembly or building the makerspace. calbano@suesd.org This work will begin as soon as I can get a lumber quote from one of our partners.
If you would like to just volunteer and/or drive on school field trips, we would love that also. You may do so once you have completed the Live Scan . The link is in Snapshots below
Lastly, thank you to PJ Watkins for volunteering to speak and make a real world connection to our SAGE Program. He is pictured above. Read our article about it here that will soon be posted on the SCG website as a series of SAGE articles :)
In partnership,
Carlo Albano
