We’re excited for summer, and our annual Summer Learning Initiative!

If you haven’t been with us through a summer yet, here’s the rundown. We have Family Events every Wednesday afternoon at 2:00. This year you can expect musicians, storytellers, jugglers, even a petting zoo. Since we don’t have enough space in our library building, these events will take place at the New Freedom Outreach Center at 250 Mountain Ave. (Remember that they have a large parking lot behind the building, so you all will fit.) Those family events are free and open to all of you with kiddos.

Our Tween/Teen Events will happen every Thursday afternoon at 2:00. Our teens meet in the library building, and you can expect everything from escape rooms to book discussions to outside water games. Check the schedule so you’ll know what events are happening each week.

Family Events and Tween/Teen Events run all through June and July. And if your kids are too young for those events, Storytime continues every Wednesday and Friday at 10:30.

Everyone—no really, everyone—can have the opportunity to win prizes over the summer. Kids and teens set a reading goal or a project goal for the summer, and get prizes or drawing tickets for reaching their goals. Adults, we’ll punch your card every time you read a book, and once your punch card is full you can enter the prize drawing. It’s that simple. Registration begins June 1st .

We are fully open to the public! Come on in to see us 10am-6pm Monday through Friday, and 10am-4pm (closed from 12-1pm for lunch and cleaning) on Saturdays.

Curbside hours are constant every day, Monday through Saturday, from 10am until 5pm. Please email us at curbside.bcld@gmail.com or give us a call and let us know what we can gather for you. We'll arrange a time to pick up for contactless delivery.

We are so excited to welcome you in the Library for our Annual Summer Learning Initiative. Whether this is your first year participating or one of many, we are so grateful for your participation.

This year's Summer Learning theme is "All Together Now", and with that we have something for every learner to participate in, no matter the age. Summer Learning officially begins on June 1st. We will have family events every Wednesday and teen/tween events every Thursday at 2PM.

Our Summer Reading Initiative for Adults also begins on June 1st. Scroll to the adult section of this newsletter for more information.

Calling all artists ages 3-15! The Berthoud Community Library District (BCLD) is holding our first art contest for a limited edition library card that will debut during National Library Card Sign-up Month in September. The theme for the library card design is “All Together Now.” We’ll select a winning design through a vote at the Berthoud Library and on BCLD social media.

This Contest will run from May 15th through June 16th. Come in for a sheet if you are doing traditional art. If you plan on doing digital art visit our website at: https://www.berthoudcommunitylibrary.org/library-card-design-contest

Let's play at the library! Musical Moments is especially designed for preschool children. Stop by every other Friday at 4 p.m. starting on June 2nd to learn, play, and sing at the Berthoud Community Library.

Salida Circus will be joining us at New Freedom Outreach Center on June 7th at 2PM.

Salida Circus is Colorado’s most unique troupe of acrobats, aerialists, jugglers, jesters, stilt walkers, magicians, and much more!

Join Denise Gard’s famous Border Collies as they camp under the stars. Will Kira end up lost? Will Joey rescue her? Learn how to co-exist with wild animals while hiking and camping with your dogs. Discover how we’re all together in nature—Animals and Humans—in this epic adventure full of dog tricks!

This event will be held at the New Freedom Outreach Center on June 14th at 2PM.

In this action-packed story presented by Talewise, two unlikely heroes work together to save their town (and the planet) from a super-polluting mastermind!

Throughout the adventure, volunteers will help the performer conduct several exciting science experiments that bring this story to life! Together we’ll explore Newton’s Laws of Motion, air pressure, chemical reactions, and more!

This event will be held at the New Freedom Outreach Center on June 21st at 2PM.

Join us for a fascinating science show that will entertain both students and parents alike with Mad Science. See amazing chemical reactions, fantastic forces, and more.

This event will be held at New Freedom Outreach Center at 2PM on June 28th.

Play soccer while balancing a bean bag on your head! This silly twist on the standard game play will make for some goofy fun. Meet in the library and we will set up the field outside after we review the rules.

This event will be held at the Berthoud Community Library at 2PM on June 1st.

Join us for a collaborative painting for teens and seniors on June 8th.

This event will be held at the Berthoud Community Library at 2PM. Registration is required.

This Journaling Techniques event will include techniques such as clustering, stream of conscious, unsent letter, and more.

This event will be held at the Berthoud Community Library at 2PM on June 15th.

Materials will be provided and suggested crafts, or you can create something completely unique! Sewing, painting, concocting, creating something great and taking it home.

This event will be held at the Berthoud Community Library at 2PM on June 22nd.

In this game you will play as a test subject being held at Hawkins National Laboratory. There is no evidence yet that you have any paranormal powers, however, you're still being poked and prodded every day and you've had enough. You plan to break out today. Escape from Hawkins National Laboratory. Collect objects to help you battle the ghouls from the Upside Down and save the town of Hawkins.

This event will be held at the Berthoud Community Library at 2PM on June 29th. Registration is required.

Beginning June 1st, come into the Library and ask for a punch card. For every book you read you will receive a punch on your card. Once a punch card is full you will turn it to the front desk staff to enter the grand prize drawing.

This year's grand prize is 2 tickets to Candlelight Dinner Playhouse, an exceptional dinner and theatre hall in Johnstown, CO. There will be four drawings for 2 tickets each.

Join us as we free-write, critique, and hone our craft together.

All genres of writing welcome. We meet every Monday from 10:30AM to 11:45AM.

Xeriscaping is not all rock and cacti!

An indoor program hosted by Berthoud Local will introduce the why and how of xeriscaping, followed by a tour of the Plant Select Demonstration Garden which surrounds the library building.

The “Why” will cover Colorado’s climate/weather and discussion of the water cycle in residential and urban watersheds.

The “How” will cover planning a xeric garden, including design, soil, mulch, irrigation and maintenance considerations, as well as appropriate plant selections. The concepts of active and passive water harvesting will be presented as well.

The presenter is Kathy Mitchell, a Berthoud Library Board trustee member and a Larimer County Master Gardener.

Stay ahead of the crime. Rick Raesz, a highly effective Senior IT business executive, will be teaching us about Cyber Security and how it applies to you on June 15th from 6:00-7:00PM.

Our monthly Knit & Crochet Drop-in will meet on Friday the 23rd of June from 1-4PM.

This is not a class, just a place for fellow crafters to meet and knit/crochet together. This is a drop-in event.
