Dear West Wing Parents and Guardians,
Our Governing Board unanimously approved to seek voter authorization of a continuation of the existing override and funding for Student Safety.
This election will help preserve current fine arts and athletic programs such as art, general and instrumental music, and physical education, as well as maintain class sizes. The funds will also be used to attract and retain highly qualified teachers and support staff.
The total cost of the override for homeowners is a continuation of $21.27 per month property tax on the average assessed home value. Your taxes will NOT increase as a result of passage of this override.
Funding for Student Safety Special Bond Election
Will fund safety, security, instructional resources, technology, building renewal, conservation, buses and student growth through the year 2029. The total cost is $15.12 per month on average assessed home value.
This funding is being structured to NOT INCREASE the projected tax levy.

Follow The West Wing Way show Respect, Compassion and Integrity!
We are continuing to set school wide expectations and this week we will focus on our Hallways. The hallways are small when we have an entire grade level transitioning. Our students show respect by walking on the right side and using quiet voices during transitions. This week, students will focus on compassion by holding the door open for the person behind them.
We are so fortunate to have such a supportive parent community that generously purchase items off of our school store wishlist. Please tap the image below to send items from our Mustang Store wishlist to support our Positive Behavior system! This year we will have a special Mustang Store for seventh and eighth graders only!
Our first Mustang Store is Friday, September 8! Help us get stocked up by clicking the link below!!
Hello Families,
The motto this week is:
I show up positively for myself and the people around me.
How we treat others can affect our mood and disposition throughout the day. Not only do kind words and actions make others feel good, but they can also brighten our own mood.
Think about the last time someone complimented you and how that good feeling might’ve lifted your spirits throughout the rest of the day. Students have the power to make each day a little bit better for one another. A few kind words - a compliment, encouragement, acknowledgment, or even a simple thank you - hold the possibility of making someone’s day better.
Being kind and helpful is a meaningful way students can contribute to a better classroom environment. Kindness inspires kindness!
Sometimes, however, when we are in a bad mood, it can be difficult to be kind. We may feel tired, irritable, or drained, and kindness may seem like too great an effort. And at first, kindness is effort. But just as our muscles get stronger with use, the more we share kindness with others, the easier it becomes.
“Do things for people not because of who they are or what they do in return, but because of who you are.” -Harold S. Kushner
Sometimes, it can be scary for students to give compliments or share words of encouragement because they are unsure or nervous. Understanding these three points can help:
1. Everyone appreciates compliments.
2. If you’re impressed with someone’s talent, enjoyed a joke they told, or like their shirt, tell them!
3. Never keep a compliment to yourself.
Not only do genuine compliments feel nice to hear, but they feel nice to give too. After all, we all want our kids in a classroom where students acknowledge one another positively. Encourage your child to help make that happen.
Have an excellent week,
Danna Evans

West Wing Email Policy
Protecting instructional time and minimizing classroom disruptions are of paramount importance to our staff and students. At West Wing School we have high expectations for staff and students, part of this expectation is that our teachers will be focused on their classroom instruction, lesson planning, and collaborating with other members of staff to ensure we are continually delivering extraordinary educational experiences to all students.
When our teachers receive an emails from a parent/guardian they should be responded to within two school days (excluding weekends & school holidays). It is inappropriate to chase a teacher for a response to an email before two school days have elapsed. Teachers focus their attention on their daily work with our students. Teachers and grade levels send out a weekly communication with important information that should be read by parents. The Mustang Bulletin is an important email communication that is sent out every Monday to keep parents informed and is accessible from the school website. Archived editions of the Mustang Bulletin are also available on the school website.
If parents need to get a message to their child with a change in pick-up, they should contact the school office at 623-376-5000 to ensure that their child gets the message. Any changes must be communicated to the front office by 2:15 PM and will be delivered to your child prior to dismissal.
