Maple Monthly
October 2022
Maple's First Assembly
Students, staff and our Maple Dragons were excited for our first Whole-School Assembly. Students were recognized for following the school rules they learned in the Rules Rodeo at the beginning of the month.
Open House!
We want to thank everyone who was able to join us for our Open House. It was a great opportunity for families to see inside the classroom and enjoy a hot dog dinner too!
Ready for Lunch!
Our Maple First graders line up quietly after recess to head to lunch.
Note from Knight & Dean
October has gotten off to a great start! We started our Targeted Reading Group instruction (small groups) and our regular schedules are now fully implemented.
For Social Skills this month we are working on the skill of following directions in each grade. In November we will shift our focus to keeping calm and being assertive.
ALICE Training and Drills
During the week of October 24th-27th each classroom will be trained using our ALICE curriculum which teaches students how to stay safe in the event of an unsafe situation at school. The main message students are given is to listen to their teacher. Lessons will be taught at the beginning of the week. We will practice a lockout drill Wednesday morning and a lockdown drill Thursday morning. If you have any questions about ALICE please call the office or email the principal.
Air Quality
As I am sure you have noticed, we have had many days with excess smoke in the air. We regularly check Lane Regional Air Protection Agency numbers for Springfield. If our air quality is above 100, we have recess inside.
Parking Lot
To keep our flow of traffic moving smoothly, please stay in your vehicle in the drop-off/pick-up lane and pull all the way forward. If you would like to get out of your vehicle, please park in a parking spot. We encourage all staff to park in the back lot to make room for parents both before and after school.
Maple Mondays
We invite all students and staff to wear their any Maple shirt or the color green on Maple Mondays to show our Dragon Spirit!
Volunteers in the Library
We are looking for volunteers to be trained to work in our Library. We need helpers to put back and organize Library books. If you are interested, please fill out the volunteer form below and call the front office to let them know you are interested.
Maple Family Center
Please feel free to stop by the front office and come into our Family Center if you need resources for clothing, food, job applications, OHP, etc. If you would like to volunteer, please click the link below.
Chromebooks
Please remember to send your student with their charged chromebook every day!
