The Viking Spotlight is the part in my weekly newsletter used to highlight and celebrate our students and staff anytime we can! If you would like your child acknowledged for something they have accomplished, whether on campus or off-campus, please feel free to fill out this google form HERE. I look forward to celebrating our Vikings and all of the great things they are doing!

Well, we made it through all the crazy weather last week! Who would have thought there would be a tornado warning and major flooding in San Diego!?!? What a wild week! I hope you and your loved ones stayed safe and are well. Due to all the crazy weather, we had to postpone our Viking Family Night to February 13th. We are excited to host that event this week and hope to see all of our current and future Vikings and their families there! See the revised flyer below for more information!

We are also looking forward to our 6th grade visitors coming to visit MVA from Emory and Berry this week! It is a wonderful opportunity for them to tour our campus and visit classrooms to get a feel for middle school life!

Just a friendly reminder that we are coming up on a 4-day weekend for Presidents Day. This means there will be no school this Friday, February 16th or Monday, February 19th. School will resume on Tuesday, February 20th.

We are excited to announce an upcoming event for both current and incoming Viking Families...Viking Family Night on Tuesday, February 13th from 5:30-7:30pm!! 🤗 For the first time ever, we are combining Math Family Night, AVID Night, Science Night, and Future Viking Night, all in one!! Join us for a fun evening of students showcasing projects from their respective classes, performances by different student groups, student games, parent meetings, prize giveaways, and food/drinks. Current 6th graders and their families are encouraged to attend the Future Viking Student and Parent meeting during the event. More details to come, but for now, mark the date in your calendars!! 🤗

This past Saturday, five of our Vikings performed in the Sweetwater Union High School District's Honor Band concert! We are so proud of you Sierra Addleman, Diego Flores, Frankie Medina (Francisco), Ximena Ruiz, and Ishi Taber (Karen)!! Thank you to Ms. Glover for helping our students achieve this great honor!!

Registration for the next school year is now OPEN. ALL students must register for school each year. Click the link that applies to you for more information on registration.

Help our school be a safe place for you and your friends! If you have information on incidents surrounding bullying, vandalism, safety concerns, etc., report it anonymously to p3tips.com or use the app!

In an effort to help support our MVA students, we welcome any donations of school supplies and/or money. All funds would go directly to supporting our MVA students in the form of spirit shirts, celebrations, recognition awards, school supplies, and more. Checks can be made payable to Mar Vista Academy ASB and tax-deduction forms will be provided upon receipt. Any questions, please email Ms. Scott.
