IMPORTANT DATES FOR GRADUATES
Summer Young Writers Camp
Do you love to write creatively? Not essays... We are talking about short stories, poems, and other fun kinds of writing. Well, you are in luck! For 13 years, Shelbyville Central Schools has had a summer writing camp -- Young Writers Camp. The camp is facilitated by Mr. Anspaugh (former SMS English teacher) and Miss Bathory (current 6th grade English teacher). The camp runs June 6-17, Monday through Friday, 9AM to 12PM. The theme this year is World Mythology, which helps us with decorations, fun days, and some inspiration for writing. Campers receive a T-shirt, write stories and poems, meet a published Hoosier author, go on a field trip to Indy, and so much more! It's a blast! The camp ends on the 17th with a Writing Celebration for family and special guests. Students will receive an anthology of the group's writings. The camp is open to students going into 8th through 12th grade. Registration forms are available from Mr. Anspaugh, Mr. Stenger, or your ELA teacher. The cost is $25. The camp is limited to 25 campers and those spots go quickly! Sign up today! The deadline for sign-ups is Friday, May 13th. Don't worry about it if you have summer classes or other things that pop up in the summer. We can work around it and send emails with writing activities for the times you miss. Contact Mr. Anspaugh to see what you can do if you have a summer obstacle (jtanspaugh@shelbycs.org).
