Dear Families,
We had a great week back from the break – super to see the kids again, and I hope everyone enjoyed the bonus snow day as well! To cap off the week, our 7th and 8th graders traveled today to ALBANY to perform at the Empire State Convention Center as part of NYS “Music In Our Schools Month” – and out of the over 40 schools performing there throughout March, we’re the ONLY middle school! The rest are all high schools, with maybe one combined middle/high. A lot to be proud of!
BOOK DRIVE SUCCESS
Thank you so much to those of you who donated books to our Book Drive. We have tons of literature to stock our Little Free Library in the bus circle (where families can take, give, or borrow anything there), to share with teachers, and to put out for children to share with each other.
FOOD DRIVE TO BEGIN
Feeding Westchester is predicting a sharp rise in families needing food support, and we want to be there for our Poco families. Our student government is partnering with our PTA for our spring food drive (see attached flyer), which will run for the next three weeks. I know how food prices are rising everywhere (which is also part of the concern), so any little bit of help matters – thank you!
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES APPROACHING
You haven’t missed anything, don’t worry! We’re finalizing our online signup system for spring parent-teacher conferences on FRIDAY, MARCH 24 (no school for students). As parents/guardians, you will now have the option of either an in-person conference or a virtual conference! It will be a logistical challenge, but we want to provide you the flexibility you need to participate. With that logistical mix, however, we must stay on schedule!
YEARBOOKS ON SALE
Our yearbook is created by our 7th & 8th grade yearbook staff with input from our 8th graders. It is an amazing full-color memory of the school year and is available for only $35.00.

PTA FUNDRAISER – “FLOWER POWER” BULB AND SEED SALE
The PTA Bulb and Seed Sale is back! Please review the attached flyer. You’ll see that paper orders are due March 31st and will be shipped directly to the school for you to pick up. Online orders are open through May 15th and will only ship directly to your home.
CAMP REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Summer camp online registration began on February 27th! Please see the attached flyer, as well as our website, for more details.
COVID HOME TEST KITS STILL AVAILABLE
There is still plenty of general winter sickness around us, especially coming off of the holiday break. Please pay extra close attention to symptoms of flu or COVID, and If you’re in need of COVID home test kits, even if just to have in your closet, please reach out to Nurse Juliet and we can send home some boxes in your child’s backpack. We have plenty to share with you.
Monday, March 6, marks the Jewish holiday of PURIM, and Wednesday, March 8, marks the Hindu celebration of HOLI. I encourage our families to share with their child’s classes!
