Here are some important pieces of information.

• January 5th is a Fulton County Teacher Work Day.
• January 6th is a Fulton County Professional Development Day.
• Many Fulton groups have required training on this day. Many schools are holding their own required training on this day. If you are not required to be somewhere else, you SHOULD BE with Vanguard on this day.
• If you have a question or concern about this, please let me know.

All event information, including the complete schedule breakdown, will be added to the Vanguard website. I will provide you with that information as soon as possible. We are still working out the details.

• If you have been meeting with Dr. Jo for coaching training, you will be with us on this PD Day and have a session with her in the afternoon.
• We will have the media specialists with us throughout the day.

The PD is obviously free, but we need to know how many people to expect (considering so many folks have other places to be) in order to plan appropriately.

Interested in doing one of the IGNITE talks that was mentioned in the last VanWeekly, then we need you to complete a brief Flipgrid video explaining your possible topic.

Dolvin ES has one of the first and most active Vanchise teams in Fulton. Hear from their entire team about how they work as one unit to build the capacity of everyone in their building.

We have added more Vanchise teams to the mix! There are currently a total of nineteen Vanchise teams and we can't wait to see and hear about the amazing things they're going to do!

Training Information: This Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Teacher Academy is designed for the K-5 classroom educator who wants to learn more about Microsoft’s best tools and resources for classroom learning in a one-day professional learning experience. Learn how to most effectively use Office Mix, Sway, Skype, and OneNote. Pre-requisite: must be familiar with OneDrive for storing and sharing documents.

January 18 - Microsoft Innovative Educator Academy for MS/HS- led by Whitney Beem and Megan Waters

January 20 - Microsoft Innovative Educator Academy for ES- led by Heather Temske

January 23 - Microsoft Innovative Educator Academy for ES- led by Crystal Ricks

There are trainings available for NON-VANGUARD members on January 6, 2017. If a coworker is not attending something else, consider passing along these options to him/her.

The Atlanta Families' Awards for Excellence in Education are now accepting nominations for 2017! This is an incredible opportunity to recognize someone amazing at your school or in our county. In fact, the Vanguard team is FULL of members that would make deserving recipients.
