Spirit of the Season Drive Through Parade POSTPONED to TUES DEC 15 4-6PM
Unfortunately, we must postpone the Spirit of the Season Drive-Through Parade this Saturday, December 12 due to inclement weather.
We will now be hosting the parade on Tuesday, December 15, from 4-6 PM, and set up will begin at 3 PM (or earlier upon request). Fortunately, it is supposed to be sunny and clear all day Tuesday! We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, but we felt this was the best decision after consulting with all parties involved. We are still so excited to host this event for the community and look forward to seeing you there!
Sincerely,
Ms. Amanda Schuermann & MRHS Spirit Club

SHARK SHOUTOUTS
I would like to give a shark shout-out to my Marine Science student Bridget Brochu for rescuing a sea turtle last weekend. After learning about sea turtle strandings on Cape Cod in class, she decided to go on a "turtle patrol" at First Encounter Beach in Eastham last Sunday. While walking, Bridget came across a cold-stunned Kemp's ridley sea turtle that had washed in with the wind and tide. Since Bridget knew the protocol, the turtle ended up in the safe hands of rescuers at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. These turtles are typically brought to the New England Aquarium for rehabilitation before being transported back down south to warmer waters for release. We hope this guy (or gal) makes it through the rehabilitation process since, as a critically endangered species, every turtle counts. Great Job Bridget!! - Ms. Picariello

- Shark Shout Out to Culinary Arts student Illeana Babes-Deel. Her family generously donated sea scallops to our kitchen classroom. We are so fortunate to be able to work with and enjoy locally caught seafood- yum! Thank you!! Ms. Freitas

Animal Welfare Club is collecting items and donations to help local rescues
The Monomoy Regional High School Animal Welfare Club is collecting items and donations to help local rescues for BOTH domestic shelters and Wild Care in Eastham!
If you have CLEANED towels, blankets, throws, pillow cases, sheets, OR dog/cat beds, cat or dog carriers, they will be used! (PLEASE- put the cleaned linens in a plastic trash bag.)
** Also, we need any dog or cat food and/or treats - as well as $ monetary donations will help to care for animals through the cold winter months!!
Checks may be made out to MRSD and note Animal Welfare on the bottom left of the check. (This year of the pandemic has been particularly difficult to secure donations, so even a couple of dollars will help these animals!!) WildCare alone had over 10,000 calls to help animals in 2020!
For a list of products that you can donate for Wild Care, please see: wildcarecapecod.org/wish-list/
Any $ monetary or physical donations can be brought to Beth Howe’s room
# A163 at the high school, but please email her for a good time to do so: bhowe@monomoy.edu
You may also email: pkmcmahon@monomoy.edu if you cannot come to drop off at the high school.
Thank you so much! ️
PS We are always looking for new student members!

Interact students volunteer at Cape Abilities Farm
Interact students volunteered at Cape Abilities Farm in Dennis last weekend. Thank you to Wesley Ulrich (pictured here), Yu Shang Zou, Talia Perez, Lilly Gould, Kate Small, and Emily Layton for your hard work on a COLD day! See quote from their director, Tracey.
"Thank the students who volunteered at the farm today. They represented both themselves and the Monomoy School District in the most professional manner. They were ambitious, willing to “jump-in” without a lot of direction or supervision, and completed numerous tasks that allowed the day to be the most successful day in the farm’s history. It was a pleasure to have them at the farm. I look forward to additional opportunities to host your students."
Best wishes,
Tracey L. Fraser
