Wow, what a weekend! We began this weekend with PTA's International Night followed by our 25th Celebration! In true Fulton style, everything was marvelous. We cannot say thank you enough for everyone who volunteered to make this such a special weekend for our Fulton Falcons- both current and alumni. If you were unable to attend, you definitely missed two great events. Scroll down to The PTA Perch so you can view some pictures.
Warmly,

25th Anniversary Celebration
What a great day to be a Falcon!! The celebration was spectacular - tours with student guides stationed throughout the building allowed current families a chance to see the school, and alumni to see the changes (and expansions).
There were crafts and activities galore! Cake!!! Lots and lots of cake and soo many food trucks! Plus amazing performances by the band, choir and Maple Lawn All Stars Cheer Team!
The PTA, on behalf of families current and former, would love to thank the 25th Anniversary Committee comprised of school staff, lead by Mrs. Ciliberti and including our own PTA President Grayce Kim. This was truly something special!
Check out some pictures from the 25th Celebration
International Night
International night was a meaningful, spirited night. While the night highlighted what makes us different (and special), there was such a powerful feeling of togetherness.
The event kicked off with a flag parade and cultural performances to a packed house! Then people toured the enlightening around the world showcase, where students and their families proudly shared information, heirlooms, outfits and food from their cultures and countries. To top it off, there was even a visit from Freddie the Falcon!
Not only did participants dress in their culture’s clothes, we had so many attendees show up in outfits special to their heritage.
None of this would have been possible without the event chairs: Rachael Schwartz, Shelley McGarry, Gozde McGuire, Jenn Myers, Yu Bai, Gulnura Brown, Allyson Leung and chair Greta Luhar! THANK YOU ALL!!
We also wanted to thank DJ Max for the tunes! Mrs. Prather and Mrs. Menikheim, we appreciate you MC’ing!!!
Lastly, a special thanks to the families that took time to organize and choreograph performances, and display country booths plus bring so many fun and tasty handouts, bracelets, tattoos, sashes, snacks, drinks and more.
We are fortunate to have so many different cultures to help us learn more about one another.

Baysox Game and Beautification Day!
This was such a great weekend for Fulton. We kicked off the weekend with our 4th and 5th grade chorus singing The National Anthem at the Bowie Baysox game. The students were nervous but excited and did a great job. This speaks to the great work that Mrs. Ormond and Mrs. Shawyer have been doing all year long with our students. Thank you to the staff members who came out and supported. This is the beginning of a new tradition at FES! Check out them in action!
We also had our 2nd Annual Beautification Day at FES. This year we expanded our efforts on the 5th grade portable with painting the rails, painted the RECC pavement, mulched the Outdoor classroom, prepared the indoor columns for Girls on the Run and added some Fulton ornamentation to the playground. A huge shout out the Fulton staff who joined us! This was a great way to add to the preparation in which the 25th Anniversary Team has been doing for this upcoming Saturday, our 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Parent Consideration Form for the SY23-24
When placing students, the staff and administration take into account several factors to help develop heterogenous classes that result in classes that are academically, socially, culturally, and gender balanced. Some of these criteria include, but are not limited to:
-the personality of the child
-the gender balance in each classroom
-math strengths and needs
-written output
-test results
-reading strengths and needs
-special education requirements; IEP goals
-structured versus non-structured needs
-information from previous teachers and school counselor.
There are certain concerns we cannot consider as part of this Consideration Form, therefore, we ask you not use this form to propose the following:
-specific teacher requests
-grouping based on siblings’ experience
-grouping based on friends
-grouping based on hearsay.
Your input on this form will be used in our planning for your child rather than a letter requesting a specific teacher. Your response is OPTIONAL but is a very valuable source of information to the school staff and to the next teacher.
The form closes on May 26th. Thank you for your help.

SGA's service project, please support!
During the month of May, the Student Government Association's (SGA) service project is a food drive for the Howard County Food Bank. SGA is working with Mr. Smith to collect the food. Each grade level will have a box for collection. There will be a poster in the cafeteria to show how much food each grade has collected. At the end of the month, the grade with the highest number of food items collected will win. One lucky student in that grade will be able to pie Mr. Smith (senior) in the face during lunch. One lucky student in the grade with the second highest number of food items collected will be able to pie Mr. Smith (junior) in the face during lunch. The food bank is in need of bags of rice, pasta and sauce, spices, soups, peanut butter, sauces and condiments, bags of beans, hot and cold cereal, 100% fruit juice, diapers (size 4+), and feminine hygiene. Let's restock those shelves for Howard County residents!
