Pyramid of Success
Coach Wooden believed and taught that the most important responsibility each of us had to ourselves was to do everything we could to achieve our own potential. He offered his Pyramid of Success and his definition of Success as a guide, stepping stones to help young people understand what it really takes to make the effort – 100% – to fulfill their potential and do their best. Every couple of weeks, our students will focus on one or two character traits from Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success. Positive examples of students exemplifying the character traits will be recognized with the Pyramid of Success Awards. Classroom lessons will reinforce elements of the Pyramid of Success. Additionally, whole school assemblies will feature character traits from Coach Wooden’s Pyramid of Success.
For the next three weeks, we will be focusing on Alertness and Action-This Friday we will be giving our first set of Awards for Alertness and Action
Last week, students learned how to utilize the Tree Map to help them classify objects/ideas. This is a great strategy to help students organize their thoughts as a pre-writing activity. Next week, we will be focusing on Flow Maps. The Flow Map is used for sequencing details from a story (or historical event). Some of the other key words your child might use when using a Flow Maps are steps, recount, and cycles.
Talk to your child about what kinds of things he or she has been putting in a sequence at school. Then, take an opportunity to engage in a family activity that will reinforce this type of thinking and learning for your child at home
Congratulations to Ms. Yu’s Class with the best attendance for last week, 99%. Did you know that research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence.
This year’s attendance goal for Adams Elementary is 94% average daily attendance. Last year our attendance rate was 92.6% which was a significant decrease in our attendance rate. In order to meet our school goals, we must see an increase in student attendance for the 23-24 school year. Currently, Adams Elementary has an attendance rate of 95.46% for this year

While the topics and approaches will vary depending on the grade level of students, aspects of digital citizenship instruction include:
