2022-2023 Family & Student School Compact

Talkeetna Elementary consistently provides a safe and nurturing learning environment where students and staff understand expectations and achieve goals toward individual success.

Talkeetna Elementary is committed to the goal of quality education for all children. Effective schools are the result of families and school personnel working together to ensure children are successful in school.

This compact is a voluntary agreement between parents, student(s), teacher(s) and the principal to unite them in their efforts to provide an effective, robust educational program. You are invited to be involved in that partnership to meet the educational needs of students.

Student - Parent - Teacher - Principal

As the student, I will:

1. Come to school each day ready to learn.

2. Ask questions when I am not sure about a lesson or assignment.

3. Set academic goals for myself in order to grow.

4. Do my best to make courageous, kind, respectful choices.

5. Be the very best "Talkeetna Timberwolf" I can be each day to reveal the leader in me.

As a parent, I will:

1. Support my child's learning by ensuring s/he has adequate sleep, nutrition, and attends school on a regular basis.

2. Support my child's learning by reading and discussing with her/him.

3. Help set a positive tone for learning with my child.

4. Strive to create quality time with my child.

5. Participate in decisions relating to the education of my child through a mutually respectful relationship with school staff.

6. Support my child's classes/school (helping in class/school, communicating with my child's teachers, attending school events when possible, etc)

As a school, we will:

1. Provide a high-quality effective learning environment that is safe and enables the student to meet or exceed our MSBSD's academic achievement standards.

2. Provide ongoing two-way communication between teachers, principal, support staff and parents.

3. Provide access to staff/classrooms through an "open-door" policy.

4. Provide opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate in their child's educational growth.

5. Help support student-agency in setting and reflecting on personalized student goals.
