MESSAGE FROM THE ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF BUSINESS SERVICES
Dear CV Community,
As we head into the heart of the academic year, I wish to update you on some developments within our school district that help continue our mission of preparing students for College, Career, and Life.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The landscape of our school facilities continues to change for the better. Recently, we cut the ribbon on our state-of-the-art athletic facility at Leuzinger High School. This facility includes a home-side field building, featuring team rooms, new restrooms, concessions, and a ticket booth. On the visitors side, we have a brand new entrance plaza, a dedicated restroom building, and concession windows. At Lawndale, field and gym construction is slated for completion by June 2024, and will include similar facilities.
LEUZINGER HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS COMPLEX RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY
On November 2nd, CVUHSD held the Dedication Ceremony for the state-of-the-art Leuzinger High School Athletics Complex. Local, state and federal dignitaries attended the celebration as well as staff, community members and Leuzinger alumni. Leuzinger Cheer, Majorettes and Band performed at the ceremony and attendees thoroughly enjoyed the show. Leuzinger Culinary Careers Academy cooked and served their delicious tacos and desserts. The event was a huge success! We thank the CV community for passing Measure SP and making our vision a reality!
SCHOOL NEWS
HAWTHORNE HIGH SCHOOL
LAWNDALE HIGH SCHOOL
Lawndale celebrated the 10th-12th grade honor roll recipients this month. 611 students were recognized for their academic achievements during the spring 2023 semester. Three separate grade level ceremonies were hosted to accommodate the students and parents. We are so proud of our Cardinal Rockstars that make school their top priority. Thank you parents for the support you provide your children and the school.
The CV Winter Concert will be taking place on December 13th from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Centinela Valley Center for the Arts.
LEUZINGER HIGH SCHOOL
November has been very successful for two parent groups. The Grupo Crecer and Factor Prent engagement groups culminated this month. The groups of parents participate in workshops for over 6 weeks. They learned more about parenting teenagers, communication and the negative effects of social media when not used for good. The parents were happy with their accomplishments and feel more connected to their students and the school, overall.
LLOYDE HIGH SCHOOL
Larch Village Adult Transition Program focuses on communication, independent living, mobility and vocation/college. Every Tuesday through Thursday, students at Larch Village participate in vocational strands that aim to develop skills that will prepare students to live as independently as possible post Larch. This month, students participated in a Coffee with Cop event in Lawndale. The students were excited and prepared to ask questions and invite the Lawndale Sheriff’s Department to visit the Village.
