Happy Monday F.AVE Families!

We are happy for another week to remain connected with you all. For those of you that we haven't heard from, we will be doing wellness calls this week. These calls are not about completing work on-line, but we just want to know that you are doing well and have what you need. So, if your teachers haven't heard from you or your students have not logged in to the Google classroom we will do calls in the coming weeks. If you have situations that have kept you or your child from engaging with the teacher, please just shoot the teacher a note letting us know. We care about all of our families and want to at least touch base with each of you.

Spirit Week

Our staff has created a fun week of school spirit activities for us to engage in. I hope that you take part and send in your pictures and videos so we can share in our weekly newsletter. Here are the festivities for the week:

Monday - Pajama Day - Teachers will video themselves wearing their pajamas for the Falcon News.

Tuesday - FAVE Spirit Show Day - Students will create/design FAVE Spirit messages and present them in the driveway, sidewalk, window, mailbox or door

Wednesday - Selfies with Sunglasses Day - Students will wear sunglasses to their morning meetings or take pictures of them in their sunglasses

Thursday - Crazy Sock Day

Friday - Fun Handwashing Day - Students will record themselves singing the Falcon Chant or the IB song while washing their hands for 30 seconds or longer.

Spring Pictures

Hey Parents! This is Charlie at Roger Cannon Photography! I know the last month has been difficult to navigate. We know that so many parents look forward to having class photos made in the spring but because of Covid-19 that was not possible this year. We wanted to offer you another option this year with our custom class composites. Below is a link so you can order these for your children. They will be mailed directly to you at your home. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, Thank you!

If you prepaid for class photos online, you do not need to order. A class composite will be mailed to you soon!

Please remember when you go online you will only see the sample proof of one class. After you add the 8x10 composite to your cart and click checkout, you will be able to enter your child's information.

I will be sending out proofs to all the teachers before I print any of the composites!

National School Library Week

"National Library Week (April 19 - 25, 2020) is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and library workers and to promote library use and support. As the impact of the COVID-19 crisis continues to evolve and change the work of libraries and library workers, libraries are proving resourceful and resilient, serving as a rich pipeline for content, delivering access to ebooks, movies, music, video games, virtual storytimes and activities, and so much more"

We would like to acknowledge our wonderful library and media support team at F.AVE!

National Administrative Assistant's Appreciation Day - Wednesday April 22

National Administrative Professionals' Day, also known as Secretaries Day or Admin Day, is observed on the Wednesday of the last full week in April of each year. It is a day to recognize the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists and other administrative support professionals.

We will be celebrating Ms. Malik James and our bookkeeper Mrs. Jessica Wentworth this week as well. Please consider sharing an e-card with them to show your appreciation of each of them.

Returning Library Books

If you have F.AVE library books at home, you may return them this week or next week! There will be a return cart outside the front office Tuesday-Thursday from 8-12. Please do not remove books from the cart and only return F.AVE books here.

If you left library books in the classroom, do not be concerned. Your teachers and librarians will work together to get those returned.

Field Trip Refund Information:

Unfortunately, due to school closures, some field trips were unable to happen this year. Please click on the link below to complete the refund form for your child's grade. Fifth grade classes who were not able to attend the Tybee trip will receive the form from their teachers. Please complete the form by April 30th. Important UPDATE for Passive Fundraising

It’s super easy to earn money for our school when you shop at some of your favorite spots, like Publix, Amazon and Kroger (see below for full details). But, our school name has been updated to "The Academy at 5th Avenue PTO". To ensure funds are being directed to F.Ave, please log into your respective shopping accounts and look for our updated school name.

How you can support the F.AVE PTO with very little effort:

AmazonSmile - Go to smile.amazon.com and, using your existing Amazon account, select The Academy at 5th Avenue PTO as your charitable organization.
Publix - No more keychain! Follow these easy instructions.
Box Tops - Box Tops have gone digital!! Download the App, Box Tops for Education. Enter your information, select our school, scan receipts and done! If you still have hard copy box tops, we are still collecting them in the box in front of the Media Center. There is a box labeled Box Tops for Education.
Kroger - Register your Kroger Plus Card online and click on "enroll."
