Dear Families,
I hope everyone had a nice and restful break this past week. I know that this time of year can seem to drag on with the short, cold days and unpredictable weather. The good news is that we are closer to March.
We are planning some Lenten activities with the students this coming month. Every Friday afternoon, Fr. Williams will lead students in different prayers and reflections for the Lenten season. Last week the school community had Eucharistic adoration and prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet. This coming week the students will be led through the Stations of the Cross.
This coming month we will be planning a school-wide Reading Challenge. Details on the challenge will be shared soon, but I do want to share a date with you to mark on your calendars. On March 5th, the Fall River Public Library will be available after school to sign up students for library cards. Parents will need a photo id and a second proof of address. (A piece of junk mail will be fine.) I have been working with the Fall River Public Library to see if we might be able to bring the Bookmobile to Holy Name School. Students will need a library card to borrow books from the Bookmobile, so we encourage parents to stop by to sign up for a card on March 5th.
This Friday, former Boston Red Sox pitcher Brian Rose will be visiting Holy Name to give an anti-bullying presentation to our students in grades 5-8. I want to extend a special thank you to District Attorney Thomas Quinn and his office for making this presentation possible.
This coming Thursday, 2/29 we will have a fundraiser at Papa Gino's on Elsbree St. The school will earn 20% on all qualifying orders placed from 4-9 p.m. See the flier below. Please consider giving yourself the night off from cooking while supporting Holy Name School!
