GRAD CLAS NOTES
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Graduate Newsletter
Become What You Are Not Yet
That headline is one of my favorite quotes from St. Augustine. It is a powerful statement from which we can draw much inspiration, and this issue of our graduate student newsletter highlights some of the many ways in which Villanova University can help you become what you are not yet.
Your program directors, faculty mentors and fellow students in your discipline are, of course, excellent resources to help you shape your academic and professional career, but the College and University also offer an array of opportunities and services to help you achieve your goals.
In last month's issue, I encouraged you to take risks, meet students outside of your program and become involved in the life of the University. The Graduate Studies Office helps facilitate these opportunities by hosting events such as our New Student Orientation and Reception and working with the Graduate Student Council to organize social events throughout the year. Villanova offers so many ways to enrich your experience, including lectures, fitness classes, clubs and activities, service opportunities and cultural events such as the Villanova Theatre. Explore what Villanova has to offer!
As you will read in this issue, offices and organizations such as the Career Center and The Bridge Society exist to help you make the best decisions about your career and help you make connections in your field. These services are here for graduate students, too, and they are free!
I hope that you are settling in to this fall semester, and remember that Graduate Studies and other University offices are here to support you. At Villanova, we believe the best way to become what we are not yet is through the strength of a committed, caring community!
