Parent Association Executive Board Nominations
The nomination period for the High School of Service and Learning Parent Association executive board is now open. We are currently accepting nominations for the following positions,
- President
- Vice/Co-President
- Treasurer
- Recording Secretary
You may nominate yourself or anyone who is the parent or guardian of a current HSSL student. Nominations must be made in writing to myself (Mx. Craig) or the election committee chairperson Ms. Maritza Kerr by Wednesday May 3rd 7pm!

ONLY PARENTS OF CURRENT HSSL STUDENTS MAY NOMINATE OR BE NOMINATED FOR EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS! NO HSSL STAFF CAN SUBMIT A NOMINATION OR BE NOMINATED EVEN IF THEY ARE A PARENT OF A CHILD IN THE SCHOOL. IT IS A VIOLATION OF CHANCELLOR'S REGULATION C-660 FOR ANY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION STAFF TO INTERFERE OR INFLUENCE THE PARENT ASSOCIATION ELECTION PROCESS IN ANY MANNER.
All nominees will have the opportunity to address the parents of HSSL community in a virtual meeting/town hall Wednesday May 10th (link will be sent when nominations close).

If you are a high school student, College Passport at University Settlement has a summer course designed with you in mind!

This course aims to support students who either:
A) Do NOT feel challenged enough in schools.
B) Plan to study a Math-intensive major in colleges, such as science- or engineering-related majors (Math, Data Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, etc.), social-science-related majors (Psychology, Quantitative Sociology, Education Studies, etc.), and business-related majors (Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Communication, etc.)
OR
C). Hope to study in advance to better prepare for advanced math classes in future.

Pre-SAT Skills Institute is an intensive course that teaches math and English – the key areas tested on the SAT and on Regent's exams. This is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen your basic English and algebra skills in just 5 sessions on a college campus! You will have an opportunity to receive both direct instruction and independent practice time with teacher support during class. You will also have direct access to extra tutoring.
- Summer classes will be held at MERCY College, Manhattan Campus.
Days: Both classes will be held on Tuesdays (Attached flyer has time detailed)
Metro card will be provided.
Lunch will be served.
Books will be provided.

We would love to invite you to VOTE for the Citywide and Community Education Councils (Also known as CCECs or CECs) and to spread the word to other parents.

CCECs work directly with schools and the NYC Department of Education to advocate for all NYC students across 32 Districts and 4 Special Councils in New York City. They are an important part of effecting policy change and outreach to help make our schools work for everyone. Your vote ensures the right people get this authority.
