June 4 Greenville Splash Group Open Water Swim at Lake Jocassee. Make sure to RSVP to greenvillesplash@gmail.com for more information. We arrive at 8:30 am at Devil's Fork State Park and start at 9:00 am. Swimmers must use a safe swimmer float. We have extra if needed. Swimmers must be a member of United States Masters Swimming.

Workout Schedule

Greenville County Aquatic Complex:

It's Long Course Season! Coached workouts: TuTh 5:30-7:00 am, TuTh 6:30-8:00 pm, TuThF 9:30-11:00 am, F 7:00-8:30 am, Sat 7:00-9:00 am.

Veterans Swim Program Mon Wed 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Kroc Center:

Coached workouts: MWF 6:00-7:00 am

Due to lane space and safety concerns we require swimmers to circle swim at all workouts at both pools.

Substitute Coaches

We are need of substitute coaches. Let us know if you would like to be a permanent substitute coach or a guest coach. We are in need of helping us out this spring and summer as coaches go on vacations. We loved having Scott Conklin and Bill Durbaun be guest coaches this past month. Thanks so much for filling in and sharing your passion for swimming!

How to Work Safely on Breath Control

You might remember doing breath-holding exercises as a competitive swimmer when you were young, with the prevailing-at-the-time theory being that you could get better at swimming by practicing "lung-buster" sets and restricted breathing sets. This became especially popular when underwaters and streamlined dolphin kicking became a bigger part of fast swimming.

How to Tell If Your Feet and Hips are Sinking While You're Swimming and How to Fix It

Without getting into too many specifics about fluid mechanics and the laws of physics, it's safe to say that if your feet and hips are low, they produce more drag. More drag needs more propulsion to overcome the drag, and more propulsion requires more energy.

Make a Difference

Thank you so much to all of our swimmers that volunteer for Greenville Splash! Your efforts help to make our community safer in the water and provide fitness and competition activities for swimmers. We host three big events every year: The Greenville Splash Invitational LCM Swim Meet, The Upstate Splash Charity Open Water Swim, and Upstate Veterans Swim. We have taught over 350 adults how to swim! The Upstate Splash has raised money to provide swim lessons for over 3,400 children! We are proud to be a team that gives back to our community!
