Lenox Elementary Newsletter
Week of December 13th
Greetings Lenox Families/Saludos Familias Lenox
This holiday season, as principal of our school, I am extremely grateful for our hard working staff, for the partnership between parents and community members, for our amazing students, and for all of the incredible work that has happened over the last quarter. This fall has been unique in so many ways, but Lenox Pioneers including staff, students, and families have continued to show PRIDE each day; Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Enthusiasm. As we move through the month of December, we are focusing on the trait of compassion; both for others and for ourselves. Compassion is defined as a desire to help others and a strong sense of sympathy for someone who is in distress. Compassion, in other words, is a feeling and an act, and the best way to teach it is to put it into action.
From the Lenox family to yours, we wish you a safe and happy holiday season!
If you ever have questions, suggestions, or wonderings, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's classroom teacher, the office or me. Communication and connection are key to our success!

Donation to Our Library
Shokookai, also known as the Japanese Business Association of Portland is a Non-Profit Organization that has contributed to the community in various ways since its inception in 1966. One of the main objectives of their activities is to support the Japanese educational and cultural programs of local schools. Shokookai has determined to expand their program, and has donated some Japanese books to our building library. We are grateful for this partnership and looking forward to sharing these books with students.
Archived Reminders
- Please send your student(s) to school with a jacket. Our lost and found is filling up, so adding names in coats/sweaters/etc. is very helpful when students are looking for lost items. Be sure to encourage your student(s) to visit the lost and found this week!
- Just a reminder that students who travel need to follow the District’s quarantine protocols upon their return, which have been developed in consultation with Washington County Public Health. Students will be able to access their education remotely during the period of their quarantine using Google Classroom/StudentVue. For specific details visit our HSD Website HERE
- Birthdays - Please check with your student(s) teacher prior to sending anything with your student. Allowed items include book donations, pencils, etc. No candy or things that require the removal of a mask or balloons.
- 9 or less is best! Regular, on-time attendance is essential to students’ education and our goal is that students miss 9 days or less during a school year. If your student will not be attending school, please call our attendance line at 503-844-1363, and be sure to share the reason for the absence. Class starts promptly at 7:45 - if a student arrives at or after 7:45 they need to stop by the front office to check in and grab a tardy pass.

Fundraisers have been a part of our school communities and have supported a variety of activities, supplies, field trips, etc over the past years for our students. This fundraiser will be supporting teacher classroom budgets and other activities being put on by booster club for the 2021-2022 school year.
We know that many of our families have been impacted in different ways regarding COVID-19 and want to make sure that you know there is no expectation to participate and/or donate in any of our fundraising events unless you feel comfortable and capable of doing so. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to Sarah Keller, Principal at kellers@hsd.k12.or.us and/or Crystal Geiger, Booster President at lenoxboosterclub@gmail.com
