Thomson Tidbits
December Edition 2023
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Thomson Elementary Families,
I hope this message finds you well and filled with the warmth of the holiday season! As we step into the enchanting month of December, I wanted to take a moment to extend my warmest greetings to each and every one of you.
The air is buzzing with excitement as we approach the culmination of the year, and here at Thomson Elementary, we're eager to embrace the festive spirit that December brings. It's a time for joy, reflection, and coming together as a community to celebrate the wonderful achievements and growth we've experienced throughout the year.
This month promises to be filled with engaging activities and educational opportunities for our students. We have a variety of events planned, from festive classroom activities to holiday sing-alongs as a school. Our dedicated teachers and staff are committed to ensuring that December is not only a time for celebration but also a period of continued learning and enrichment for our students.
As we prepare for winter break, let us take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and parents. Your support is invaluable, and together, we create an environment that fosters growth, curiosity, and a love for learning.
I encourage you to stay connected with the school through our communication channels, as we will be sharing updates on upcoming events and important information. Your involvement and engagement make a significant impact on the success of our school community.
Wishing you and your families a December filled with joy, laughter, and memorable moments. May this holiday season bring you warmth and happiness.
Thank you for being an essential part of Thomson Elementary!
Most Sincerely,
Andrew Criswell
Proud Thomson Principal

💲💲Cool to Care 2023 Campaign 💲💲
Thank you for your generous donations to the Cool To Care Campaign. This campaign benefits our local community through Outreach East as they work to help families in need. Please remember that Outreach East cannot collect cans because they have changed their space. It will be cash donations only this year. Please see the flyer below explaining the Cool to Care Campaign in greater detail. We hope your student will join us for the Cool to Care Spirit Days! Thanks for helping!
🎿❄️🏂Dressing Warm for Recess!☃️🧣🧤
Please help your child remember to bring their gear for recess every day. Some families choose to pack their gear in a separate bag from their backpack. I recommend working with your child to check their bag every night to make sure they have both gloves and boots, as well as the rest of the gear, in their bag. By getting it ready at night you'll have an easier time getting out the door in the morning. If your child is wearing their boots to school, please make sure to pack shoes to wear during the school day. It is also helpful when parents help their children learn to dress themselves in their winter gear. Our young students in particular can struggle with this and it takes practice. We appreciate your help!
⛄❄️ Holiday Spirit Days!🎄🎅
It has been so fun to have Spirit Days for the Cool to Care campaign that we thought we'd continue with some extra days in December. These are bonus schoolwide days with NO DONATIONS ATTACHED. Children are welcome to join in the fun if they wish.

STEM🖥️👨💻📱
Hello Thomson Families,
This month in STEM we listened to a story titled, Turkey Trouble, and discussed some of Turkey’s good and bad ideas to disguise himself from Farmer Jake for Thanksgiving. Students got to work on engineering skills and build build a hiding spot for turkey with KEVA plank blocks, as well as work on a turkey story on www.starfall.com. They also loved working on “Arthur’s Elwood City Thanksgiving” on www.PBSkids.org.
