Week #15
December 11-15, 2023
The Week's News and Information
Dear Frankfort Families,
December is such a busy month! Teachers are pushing forward to finish their units to prepare for ten days off, and everyone is attempting to stay healthy to enjoy their holiday breaks.
This week, we had to close preschool classrooms, and one day, the entire PK. While we are past "isolations" and such, we ask for everyone's sakes that you please continue to keep sick children home. Twenty-four hours fever free without fever-reducing medication (i.e. Motrin or Tylenol) is the rule for returning to school from a fever. Let's ensure everyone can safely sail through music programs and into time with family. We do have a school nurse this year who can help with questions about children who are ill. We are grateful to have the School Wellness Program in our building. Reach out to Nurse Merrill with your questions!
Just one more week until we have our Holiday Music Programs! Mr. Joslin's music classes are gearing up for exceptional performances for you! We will have two performances:
- Preschool, Kindergarten, and Grade 1 will perform on Monday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m.
- Grades 2-5 will perform on Wednesday, December 20 at 6:30 p.m.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. each evening. We look forward to seeing you all there!
The Santa Experience is TODAY (Sunday, December 10) from 12-7. See flyer below.
Our next Early Release Wednesday is January 24--no more early releases in December.
Winter is here! Please help your child to bring all outdoor clothing: winter coat, boots, hat, snow pants, and gloves/mittens. If you would like to send extra boots or snow pants to leave in your child's, you are welcome to do so. Please notify your child's teacher so that they will not ask children to take things home every night. As always, please write your child's name/initials in their items of winter clothing.
If you are in need of a winter coat for your child, please contact Carrie Aldrich in the elementary office to see what we have available, as we received many new donated coats.
Four open gyms will be held in January for PK-Grade 2 girls to learn about basketball . Please see the flyer below for this new opportunity.
Other notes for the week:
- Previous weeks' notes can be found in the "Old News" portion of the newsletter, near the bottom.
Have a wonderful week!
Best,
Anne

Notes From Previous Weeks
- As children start to need outdoor gear, please be sure their names are written in the book clothing. If found, we can deliver right to their lockers instead of having the clothing end up in the Lost and Found.
- Carline: Out of courtesy for our neighbors on Leelanau, please do not block driveways. If residents are attempting to exit or enter a driveway, please allow them to do so. Please stop your vehicle before driveways to ensure they are able to leave or enter.
- The Title I Winter Newsletter has arrived with suggestions for winter books to read and activities to do with your child.
