Summer Social Emotional Ideas for Families
PURPOSEFULL PEOPLE - Responsibility
Every month the Pupil Service Team will attach a letter with what is happening in our Social Emotional World here at school and Resources that may be helpful. Please reach out to any one of us on the Pupil Service team if you are in need of any additional Resources.
Below you will find links to K-2 and 3-5 parent letters with additional information and activities related to Responsibility that you can try at home.
Character Strong for 6th -8th grade
Our older students at MMS are also learning about character. Once a week during advisory, homerooms engage in a character lesson that focuses on the 8 Essentials (Patience, Kindness, Humility, Respect, Selflessness, Honesty, Commitment) and important social-emotional skills (Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Responsible Decision-Making, Relationship Skills). To keep focusing on their character throughout the week, students are challenged to complete a "Character Dare" that relates to their weekly lesson.
Character Strong for 9th and 10th Grade
During Cardinal Time on Wednesdays, 9th and 10th grade students have been working on Academic and Career Planning, along with relationship building with their Character Strong group. During second semester, they will continue digging deeper into the Character Strong curriculum, which will focus on emotional intelligence, goal setting, and communication.
